A new report from The Wall Street Journal says that contingents of U.S. special operations forces and U.S. Marines have been making more regular rotational deployments to Taiwan for at least a year now. This news comes a day after Chiu Kuo Cheng, the island's defense minister, said publicly that Chinese forces would be capable of launching a "full-scale" invasion operation across the Taiwan Strait with far fewer risks than they face now by 2025.

“A report that the U.S. military has been stepping up its activities in Taiwan for at least a year comes amid growing fears of a Chinese invasion.”
Should have included that under the headline
If US troops are needed on the ground in Taiwan, it is already lost. Control the sea and control the air, then Taiwan is safe. Lose those and Taiwan is lost.
Great, sitting ducks. Getting ready for the next big retreat.
Oh goody, more undeclared American killing and maiming wars so the fat cats can line their pockets. Hide your kids from the Pentagram folks.
I bet fat Liz Cheney is all tickled about it.
We retreated in Vietnam and Afghanistan. We can’t manage to quell Iraq and Syria. The Taliban routed us.
How do the bright boys think they can face an enemy who can lose two times the population of the USA in war without blinking?
Well they will be paraded before a Chicom tribunal soon…but at least they are vaccinated and woke…
Could this Taiwan situation have been the impetus for the Afghan Skedaddle?
China will call Milley before they invade so he can remove the US forces.
If Joe is allowing it to continue, the Chinese must be wondering why they funneled all that money to Hunter to pass on to the Big Guy. Joe's not an honest politician. An honest politician, when he's bought, stays bought.
That’s what I’m wondering. Taiwan is much more important to our well-being than Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc.
"We can’t manage to quell Iraq and Syria."
Syria is a Russian problem
The Taliban routed us Joe Biden surrendered to the Taliban.
"How do the bright boys think they can face an enemy who can lose two times the population of the USA in war without blinking?"
China's PLA has no combat experience ; China has not won a war in centuries ; PLA logistics totally suck ; casualties would trigger an internal uprising which would destroy the CCP - whose only concern is its own survival. Any attack on Taiwan (even with 1/2 hearted defense) would bring a huge number of losses in men and materials for the PLAN and PLAAF, losses they cannot afford. Cross channel troop transports would be sunk like shooting fish in a barrel with a 12 gauge using birdshot - losses would be horrendous.
A blockade would be an act of war and be treated as such. 60% of the world's shipping ($34 trillion in goods) transits the South China Sea. Left unanswered there would be nothing left on any store shelves not only in the US but many other countries. Bad Idea.
If I were Taiwan I would be worried that ‘help from U.S.’ was actually Chinese agents undercover or in disguise.
The Chinese soldiers are busy slurping down General Tso’s Chicken.
They can’t get enough of his chicken.
Two underlying questions.
Who leaked it and why?
Why did the WSJ report on it?
The Persians marched an immense army into Greece, far larger than the meager force of Spartans and assorted allies that was sent to block them. But the narrow pass at Thermopylae was a choke point, and 300 Spartans held off the Persian horde, even the immortals, until treachery did them in.
By the same token the beaches of Taiwan are choke points. You can only land so many troops at one time, and the PRC does not have an unlimited number of transport ships. Rommel was right. You have to stop a seaborne invasion on the beach, or better yet on the open sea before the enemy reaches the shore.

Back off ass hole
And ....... what did the US Navy sub hit ? Was it on purpose?
It’s just inflation. If we fight, it’s to give the Chinese a chance to defeat us. $1T for Taiwan, $2T for Taiwan plus an aircraft carrier, $5T for Taiwan plus total US humilitation, $15T and we’ll throw in Australia and NZ, $100T for parts of the mainland. These are firesale prices and China would be best to write that check payable to Hunter S. Biden...
