Terry McAuliffe, the Democrat candidate for the Virginia governor’s race, warned that President Joe Biden is “unpopular” in Virginia in off-the-cuff remarks during a video conference.
“We’ve got to get Democrats out to vote,” McAuliffe, the former governor of the state, said in the Tuesday night virtual event with Virginia Democrats. “We are facing a lot of headwinds from Washington, as you know. The president is unpopular here in Virginia, so we have got to plow through,” McAuliffe said, referring to Biden.
Virginia’s off-year elections are viewed as a bellwether contest for the party that controls the presidency and could serve as a preview of the 2022 midterms.
A spokesperson for the McAuliffe campaign said on Wednesday in a statement to news outlets that the candidate’s “point was clearly that Democrats can’t take anything for granted and must turn out to vote this year: Glenn Youngkin is running on a divisive, Trumpian agenda that puts election conspiracy theories and banning abortion first.” Youngkin is the Republican nominee for governor.
McAuliffe’s campaign hasn’t yet responded to a request for comment.
During debates and public events, McAuliffe has frequently attempted to distance himself from the agenda pushed by Democrats in Congress and the Biden administration. At one point during his debate with Youngkin, McAuliffe—who has been longtime friends with Biden—called the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package too expensive.
Nonetheless, Vice President Kamala Harris recently reportedly headlined a fundraiser for McAuliffe, while her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, campaigned for him in Loudoun County over the previous weekend. Biden attended an event for McAuliffe in late July.

We are ALL hoping that McAwful is MORE unpopular than Sloe Joe!
And McAuliffe thinks he’s popular? Yeah, telling parents they have no say in their kids education I’m sure has really boosted his popularity. This guy is such a freakin’ slimebag.
Let’s go, Brandon! (from Colorado)
I wonder which is working harder, the currency printing press, or the ballot xerox machine.
Sad to say I fully expect McAuliffe to win. Why? Because absolutely nothing has been done about election integrity. Election integrity should be the absolute TOP priority right now for the Republican party, NOTHING is more important otherwise forget the midterms and 2024, we will never win another election.
Will another election steal cause the Republican Party to act?
What will it take?
The Clintons’ bag man knows that except for NoVA (where I lived) and Norfolk/Hampton Roads, the rest of the state is pretty red. So, he’s trying to tack a little more towards the center to keep their voting bloc on the plantation.
...and providing an excuse for his defeat in blue, blue, blue Virginny.
Here’s a hint....he’s unpopular, everywhere, brainless.
So how did he win the State of Virginia then? Asking for my friend Brandon.
Elections have been stolen for years, and Congressional Republicans know it.
Biden is unpopular wherever he goes- he even got booed in new jersey i believe- He cant ever draw over 30 people in crowds either practically- But the left woudl have us believe he got the most people voting for him of any president ever?
The steal was the most blatant coup ever- and you know it was, because they immediately tried to accuse Trump of planning a coup- democrats ALWAYS project whenever they have pulled some crap like the steal-
Printing press, because they pay for votes still
Totally agree. I tried to tell an old work friend all of that, and she said Biden won because “people were ready for a change,” and that “people wanted stability.” I laughed and asked her if she thought that what’s been going on in this country since he got into office was “stability.” She had to admit that it wasn’t. I had wondered who she and her husband had voted for. Her comment left no doubt. Thankfully, we don’t see each other that often, but when we do get together, it’s going to be very hard for me not to make snide comments. My sister-in-law (Brother’s widow), voted for Biden because “Trump made mean comments.” When I told my niece what her mother had said, she told me that it was because her mother watches “The View.” I never would have thought that she would get into watching crap like that. I thought she had better sense, but then she did marry my brother, and he wasn’t the easiest person to live with. He’s been dead 26 years, but if he was still alive, she wouldn’t be watching programs like that.
The efforts of the Biden team in Washington DC to anger and insult just about every citizen not earning a living off the federal government is just astonishing.
Never has such a thorough and complete effort to reach into the liberties of every American and snatch them right out of us in plain sight taken place in this country.
Forget a civil war. His supporters number so few he couldn’t draw support for a basket of puppies.
The only people who support “Brandon Biden” are the people who directly earn a living off his totalitarian oppression. Loading up school board meetings with covert FBI operatives to hunt down domestic Karens is about as low as they can go.
Brandon himself has no idea about any of this. He’s living his days inside the memories of his past 50 years of government privilege as his brain atrophies faster than his staff can change his diapers.h/t blackdog (Let’s go Brandon!)
ATTN VIRGINIA VOTERS
Candidate McAuliffe: “I’m not going to let parents come into schools and actually remove books, and make their own decisions,” candidate McAuliffe pontificated in the Va gubernatorial debate........
Candidate McAuliffe, in total, including grammar school, high school, college and law school, spent 19 years in private schools.
Candidate McAuliffe’s family was not forced to enroll him in tax-paid schools — and, obviously, they chose not to do so......and had the bucks for pricey tuitions.
Brain atrophy, I have never seen those two terms used in tandem before.
Makes perfect sense to me though.
FR POSTED-—Rand Paul tells Americans who are worried that “if they go to their local school board and say the wrong thing, that they’re going to end up on some list that Bidens DOJ goes after,” the senator answered in no uncertain terms.
“I would say be afraid. Be afraid of your government,” Paul said.
“That’s a sad thing from someone in the government to say, but the thing is, is those lists already exist. For example, people in northern Virginia that have gone to [protests], have been then sought out by the school council, by the members of the school board and retaliated [against] in a sort of legalistic way to try to put them on some sort of list and chill their speech by letting them know there’ll be a penalty for showing up and protesting.”
