Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Monday announced his wife, Casey, is battling breast cancer, triggering a wave of leftist trolls to unleash hateful wishes and snarky remarks in response to the news.
“I am saddened to report that Florida’s esteemed First Lady and my beloved wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer,” DeSantis said in a statement on Monday.
“As the mother of three young children, Casey is the centerpiece of our family and has made an impact on the lives of countless Floridians through her initiatives as First Lady,” he continued.
“As she faces the most difficult test of her life, she will not only have my unwavering support but the support of our entire family, as well as the prayers and well wishes from Floridians across our state,” the governor added. “Casey is a true fighter, and she will never, never, never give up.”
While the news sparked a mass wave of support, even from well-known political critics such as potential Democrat DeSantis challenger Nikki Fried, trolls also took advantage.
CNN tweeted the announcement on Monday, “Casey DeSantis, the wife of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, has been diagnosed with breast cancer, the governor announced Monday.” What followed was a wave of distasteful comments.
“Does DeSantis really think that anyone will have sympathy for either him or his wife?” one asked.
“I hope she has the same chance at surviving Cancer as the unvaccinated people against Covid in Florida,” another remarked.
“I’ll give them as much empathy as they’ve given those who have died of COVID,” another added.

I admire DeSantis and his wife Casey. I wish them well.
I’m sorry to hear she has been diagnosed with breast cancer,
and I hope they caught it early and it turns into as close
to a non event as it can.
You know, it takes no class to wish evil upon others. It
takes very little class not to. Normal humans as a course
of their daily lives, know better than to revel in the
bad fate of others.
I try not to do it, but from time to time I catch myself
making light of Communists having problems. One thing I
try not to do, is celebrate their poor health.
My dil had breast cancer about 5 years ago. She survived it and thank God, is still here and in good health now but the hell she went through to get rid of it... Of course they immediately lopped off her breasts and then 6 months of chemo and radiation. After that, she was convinced by the medical community to have a full hysterectomy because she has 'the' gene that 'seems' to be connected to cancer. I was sick at the thought but of course, couldn't say anything as they thought it best.
It's my opinion that the treatment for women with cancer is basically a war on women. The treatments are barbaric and really have changed very little through the years. I don't buy that there isn't a better way or even a cure but cancer is big business now.
God bless you sir and what a lovely tagline.
The thing that struck me about the treatment regimen is that it's an attack on every aspect of a woman's femininity ... even down to the inevitable loss of hair.
And the thing that makes it even crueller is the prospect it offers for a bit more life, and it's a very human thing to grasp at that prospect.
Thanks so much! (And that tagline is the essence of my religious worldview.)
Thank you!
Thanks!
It is difficult for me to keep from going on a shooting spree.
Why, yes, there will be plenty of those folks.
Those that think Ron is doing a great job and Those that voted for PDJT, i.e., the great majority of legitimate voters.
“I hope she has the same chance at surviving Cancer as the unvaccinated people against Covid in Florida,”
Really?
Covid has a 99.5% survivability.
Those are damn good odds!
We'll take 'em.
Thanks!
People get cancer no matter what their politics are or whether they are good or bad people. It doesn’t discriminate like democrats do.
I agree with that.
There are a couple of other things that I've thought about through the years. I'm old enough to remember when the mammogram exams burst onto the scene and the unrelenting advice that all women undergo this exam. Yearly for those 35 and up (or 40). Before that time though, I can't remember breast cancer being common. Years have gone by and breast cancer is now one of the leading cancers.
I went for a mammogram (once and only once) on the advice of my doctor. You cannot tell me that squeezing on the breast with that much pressure is not destructive over time. The reason given for the increased number of breast cancer patients? Well it's being 'caught' now through the mammograms. But imho, damage to the tissue from those tests is at the root of it. There's also been a correlation between abortions and breast cancer.
Whatever the case though, it's a war on women.
“I hope they caught hers early and she swiftly fights off the disease.”
Yes indeed!
How much sympathy will these leftists have for innocent people infected with TB spread by some of the unscreened alien hoards crashing our southern border?
I would say zero, especially if they’re white.
I lost my beautiful wife suddenly this year. Selfishly, I always wished that God had taken me first.
Anyway, I am so very sorry for your sufferings.
Thank you, and my condolences to you as well. I’d always thought I’d precede my wife in death, but things don’t always work out the way we anticipate them.
Thank you.
