Black Friday isn't for another 53 days. For Amazon, however, it starts today.

Amazon has begun rolling out "Black Friday-worthy deals" to jumpstart the holiday shopping season that's expected to be chaotic because of shipping and supply chain issues. Amazon announced Monday "deep discounts across every category" including fashion, home goods, toys and electronics that will be available on a special webpage.

Let's say you run a large, successful company with a lot of smart people working for you.

You anticipate in the short and medium term to experience rising costs, rising prices, shortages of items, and increasing demand.

So, what to do? You throw the mother of all sales with deep discounts. Why?

Or they think there is going to be big time deflation in the next few months. Or a serious deflationary de-leveraging.

Could it possibly have to do with the speed, specifically the lack thereof, of shipping? Pushing people to order now to avoid the disappointment of not getting their stuff in time for Christmas? That issue, right or wrong, will be blamed on the retailer.

My guess is they’re expecting even bigger supply chain issues as the holidays get closer. A few local businesses have told me that their suppliers are seriously worried. One guy told me, I’m ordering now for Christmas or I won’t have anything to sell.

My guess it’s because of the supply chain breakdown that is supposedly looming. So they are going to ensure it happens even sooner. Just my guess.

Yep, driver shortages resulting in big shipping backlogs.

Amazon will not have stock to cover the “Black Friday” events subsequent to Thanksgiving this year. All the merchandise is piled up in ports or on ship cargo bays because it is so badly jammed up at the distribution facilities, with no dock workers and no distance trucking available.

“Or they think there is going to be big time deflation in the next few months. Or a serious deflationary de-leveraging.”

*****

And a glut of products on the market, which would explain why we have heard no rally crys out of the Fed Gov as to steps to solve the supply chain crisis.

I’m not saying that I think that’s what’s going to happen, I’m saying like with other top of the chart current events that things just don’t add up right.

I bet they are not cutting prices and holding sales events.

It will be markdowns on off-brand stuff that they recently jacked up prices on so they could make the "sale" seem legit. Business as usual.

This is preventative marketing so they can have fewer markdowns when Black Friday rolls around (and so they can get people to biuy now rather than waiting.)

>>Saw my first Christmas tree display; so disgusted forgot what store it was.<<

It in all of them: Walmart, Vons, Costco, etc.

Tim Burton saw Christmas displays in October next to Halloween displays and the cognitive dissonance therefrom was the inspiration for “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Soon you will see them in August next to water wings and inflatable pools.

One of my best friends is an import and export broker. A lot of this has to do with the Chinese screwing with shipping protocols to give them an advantage and the Biden administration doing nothing to correct the situation. This is one more problem caused by sleepy Joe and his cabal of people who seem to have no clue what they are doing. It looks like the influence that the Chinese bought and paid for is doing what it was meant to do.

Supply chain issues. Harris let the cat out of the bag over a month ago when she was encouraging buying Christmas presents. Buy now, or perhaps enjoy a simpler, more family/religious based Christmas.

There will probably be a shortage of FJB shirts. If you do a search for FJB shirts on Amazon it returns:

Did you mean fjh shirt

Surprised they even show results. Pathetic.
