Northwell Health, New York's largest hospital system, announced Monday that it fired 1,400 workers for refusing to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
State of play: Northwell Health said it took a "rapid, aggressive approach" to reach 100% vaccination among its staff, the company said in a statement Monday.
Doing so would enable them to “provide exceptional care at all of our hospitals, without interruption and enable all our facilities to remain open and fully operational."
The company employees more than than 76,000 workers, the New York Times reports.
As of Monday, 87% of the state's 450,000 hospital workers have been vaccinated, according to the latest state data.
Other hospital systems around the country have faced similar dilemmas. Last week a North Carolina hospital system fired 175 unvaccinated workers for failing to comply with the state vaccine mandate.
What they're saying: "[H]aving a fully vaccinated workforce is an important measure in our duty to protect the health and safety of our staff, our patients and the communities we serve," Northwell Health's vice president of public relations Barbara Osborn said the statement.

If you wanted to kill off all the useless excess human kind, which group do you kill, the fat sheep who do not work, or the small percentage of hungry fighters, the ones who will think outside the box and work tirelessly to make a better life for themselves ?
The chaos and pandemonium that will ensue from these insane democrat vax mandates will lead to countless preventable deaths and other medical complications where there isn’t enough staff to man the hospitals.
So in the middle of a horrendous pandemic that, according to the deity Fauci who’s authoritarian screeds cannot be questioned, will be far worse this winter....
They sack the people they need to help tide the pandemic - who were already all exposed to COVID for the past year and a half?
This has nothing to do with health or protection... this is totalitarian rule.

There's going to be another "Bonus Army"-style incident here. A lot of principled, educated, and responsible people out of work when their services were so recently claimed as critically important and still their skills remain valuable and needed. These aren't uneducated hayseeds who can't string two sentences together.
This is far from over! Reduced staff will result in fewer beds available. But hospitals running out of beds will be blamed on the unvaccinated. The policies that reduced needed staff will not be mentioned.
Jabbed contract and pass on the virus too.
So what’s the point?
If I had a loved one who died anywhere these fools serve - I'd sue them for everything they had. I'd claim my loved one died due to negligence and lack of care - predictably brought on by their corporate woke-a** decision.
Interesting analogy to sheep. Isn’t it desirable to have sheep fattened for the purpose of having better meat?
The left wants dependent people. Those “hungry fighters” who will resist their will are the ones who must be eliminated according to their doctrine.

Hospitals can’t afford to lose 10% of their people.
In the underworld known as plant services, there are some few willing to walk away from the mandate.
I think many of the walkers will be needed in less than a year.
