I simply stated that I found it “amazing”. How some Freeper’s can avidly support people and organizations that force feed them their woke bullsh!T continuously.
Personally, I find it curious how some people can so easily divorce their beliefs from their behaviors. How you can equate “virtue signaling” and the fact that a person finds this conduct to be somewhat incredulous seems inexplicable.
A person who holds a given set of beliefs and who’s behavior is completely consistent with those beliefs would simply be honoring ones own values.
Your premise however is like calling a devoutly religious person who admits going to church regularly a virtue signaler”
The Red Sox are up to their eyeballs in BLM....so MLB is dead to me.
But...different strokes for different folks.
Apparently you’re going to need a lesson on Virtual Signaling 101.
A virtue signaler shows they are “better” than then a select group by explaining why they don’t indulge in a certain activity.
Vegans are a perfect example. “I don’t understand how people can condone the slaughter of defenseless animals and eat meat. I choose not too, and therefore am a vegan.” Virtue signaling. I’m “better” than you because i don’t engage in a certain activity.
So lets look at your words. “I simply stated that I found it “amazing”. How some Freeper’s can avidly support people and organizations that force feed them their woke bullsh!T continuously.” In other words, you’re “better” than us because you’ve decided to not watch professional sports.
If you don’t want to watch pro sports, good for you! Live and let live. Thats fine by me. When you lecture those of who still do, thats when you become a virtual signaler. Congratulations.
Yup—the local broadcast had all these ads for “hispanic month”.
I kept yelling at the TV—where are the ads for “white month”?
I am going to take Mark Twain’s advice now concerning “arguing with a fool”. Have a pleasant afternoon.
Happy to say that for the first time in 50 years I haven’t watched or listened to a single game this year.
I guess the key issue is, can you still be a fan of your favorite team, or of baseball in general, even if you oppose all this liberal pandering?
Can we still be fans of the sport, even as most of us condemned the inane move of the All Star Game from Atlanta to protest the voting law which liberals erroneously called a return to Jim Crow laws?
Can you still take an interest in what’s happening in the sport, even if you decided not to go to games, or buy cable packages or spend money in any way in support??
Two more traits of the virtue signaler.
1) ‘If you don’t get it by now...blah blah blah, lecture lecture lecture.”
2) Reading... AND COMMENTING!! on threads for topics for which they supposedly no longer have any interest in at all! If MLB is “dead to you”, why are you even reading the thread, much less commenting. Sounds quite sad if you ask me. Perhaps a productive hobby would give more purpose to your days.
I think they shut down Ohtani pitching a few weeks ago, he seemed to fade a bit after the All-Star Game.
But imagine if they had a healthy Trout this year, what a difference it could have made.
High hopes for next year when they get Trout, Rendon, and Upton back.
Has it ever happened where 4 teams in the same division won 90 or more games in a season?
It is a tough call—it seems like every enterprise is rubbing our noses in insults and leftist agitation.
I usually keep the sound on mute and multi-task.
Of course I would never attend a game, buy any gear, spend any extra money related to the sport etc.
I have boycotted the NFL since the kneeling days, and have not missed it.
We are currently under enemy occupation, and everyone has to deal with it as best they can—same as humans have throughout the ages.
It was probably damn near impossible before interleague play.
By watching MLB games,by attending games,by buying jerseys, mugs, etc you're aiding the enemy. Are you prepared to acknowledge to us that you kneel when you hear the National Anthem? Are you prepared to acknowledge that you agree with General Milley that the greatest threat we face in this country today is white rage? Are you prepared to acknowledge that November 2020 was the fairest, most honest and most wonderful election this country as ever conducted? If so you'd be in agreement with every MLB owner...98% of MLB's coaching staffs...and 95% of MLB's players.
By having anything to do with MLB you're actively aiding the enemy. Feel free to claim otherwise if you wish.
It seems like the changes in modern baseball have made the manager one of the most inconsequential people inside a MLB organization. Do these guys even have any discretion over in-game decisions anymore?
I only lasted a couple of weeks. I really need the diversion of, particularly, this professional sport. I accept that in a way, but not exactly like those poor souls who use completely useless masking as an emotional crutch, my use of sports as a diversion is an emotional crutch. Sorry to have to admit that! Cheers!
Wow, embracing the virtual signaling mantra! Gotta respect that.
I could replace the whole vegan schtick with everything you wrote and you could give me a lecture on why I shouldn’t be eating meat.
At the end, the words of Winston Churchill come to mind. “A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.”
The MLB is the enemy—that is a fact.
I think of it like watching an athletic contest between China and North Korea.
I know they are my enemies but I may choose to watch them for entertainment purposes only...
