I’ve been expecting this for months now.

That’s why we are all ready for this winter already. Got our oil, propane, and wood is on order.

We're on propane for heating; tank was topped off a week ago and we're STILL running a credit from last year. Beau installed a buried copper line from the tank to the house last year. Heating and cooking are propane. Hot water is electric. Water is from a well, so needs electricity to the pump.

Beau and I both run 'hot' so a cooler house is fine with us. 58 at night and usually 62 during the day. We got a new heating and A/C system two years ago and I am SO glad we did! It's super efficient. Our Family Room was an addition to the main house; the only source of heat is a gas fireplace that heats it up to perfection - of course that's where the house dog and cats can be found until Spring, LOL!

The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a colder than normal winter for us, here in Wisconsin. If the Woolly Bear Caterpillars are any indication, they're contradicting that. ;)

Your up there now in the New England area.....I lived in R.I. for a year during winter months...they got hammered with snow and brittle weather at that time. So good you’re ready for it....it’s a different type of cold than here in PA. It’ll smack your face! Ha!

Summer of 2019, Hubby cut 20 huge trees to make way for our shed/root cellar off of our extra lot. We have enough wood for several winters. And in 2018, we put an insert in the large fireplace-it worked really well last winter.

As we are all electric, we have no propane or gasoline uses, other than for our vehicles, and occasional portable generator use. We have discussed possibly getting an additional propane BBQ grill for an additional way to heat water/cook.

However, we can always use the 2cnd fireplace for cooking, and we have a rocket stove, solar oven, regular bbq grill, firepit, and sterno stoves and fuel, so maybe we should just buy some more charcoal and Sterno. Ha.
