For the third time in just over a year, Ballad Health is suspending many of its elective surgeries, citing a new surge of coronavirus cases that have left its hospitals overwhelmed.
As serious infections have risen across the region, driven by low immunization rates and the aggressive Delta variant, the system’s administrators have begged more residents to get vaccinated. But so far, Ballad — which serves much of southwestern Virginia and northeastern Tennessee — has avoided requiring the shots for its own workers.
“Of course we have encouraged it from the beginning in December when they became available,” said Lisa Smithgall, the health system’s chief nursing executive. “And we continue to foster communication on an ongoing basis. But as of today, we don’t have a vaccine mandate for our team members.”
Ballad is far from alone. While some major hospital systems in Virginia have introduced employee vaccine requirements — including Inova in Northern Virginia, VCU Health in Richmond and Valley Health in the northwestern corner of the state — the majority of Virginia’s roughly 27 health systems are not currently mandating vaccinations for their employees. Those include major players such as Sentara, HCA and Bon Secours, which together operate more than two dozen hospitals across the state.
The same is true for many of Virginia’s long-term care facilities, which account for nearly 30 percent of outbreaks and roughly 36 percent of all COVID-19 deaths, according to data from the state Department of Health. Neither LeadingAge Virginia nor the Virginia Health Care Association-Virginia Center for Assisted Living, which represent hundreds of nursing homes and assisted living facilities across the state, could say how many of their members have adopted the policies.
But Dr. Jim Wright, the medical director for Westminster Canterbury and Our Lady of Hope in Richmond, said employee vaccine requirements are still rare throughout much of the industry
“In conversations with other medical directors, vaccine mandates are definitely in the minority in nursing homes in Virginia,” he said. “Westminster Canterbury, for example, is one of the only facilities I’ve heard of recently that has put that requirement in place.”
Yet!? Wonder if blackface northam will enter the fray? Will medicare/medicaid suspend payment if medical care facilities remain dangerously non compliant?
The Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth System and University Hospitals are not mandating the jab..

According to AFL–CIO, it would take OSHA 129 years to inspect all workplaces under its jurisdiction. OSHA is not taking any steps.. to enforce a national worker vaccine mandate..
White House has no idea what the current plan is for OSHA to create a rule that will require a national mandate.. the Biden regime never did nor does intend to use OSHA as a national enforcement mechanism..

This is the reason I think Gov Blackface Baby Killer is keeping his head down, so to speak. He’s worried it will adversely affect T-Mac getting elected. If T-Mac prevails, look out Virginia .... the DemonRats will double down on stupid, just like other blue states. Right now, things aren’t too bad ... unvaxed are “encouraged” to wear masks. Depending on where you are (which store you’re shopping in, etc), there is either a preponderance of masks or virtually none at all. Lately, I am seeing more masks as people come to the realization that having gotten the shots is not going to prevent them from contracting COVID ... and a “milder” case is definitely not guraranteed if you do get it.
Risen? This contradicts the following headline posted right now at WJHL-TV's website: Northeast Tennessee COVID-19 case rate reaches lowest level since Aug. 16.
Wonder why? Could it be that if they did mandate the shot, the next morning they wouldn’t have a employees.
Nurse compliance in this area is running around 50%...wonder what they know?

From what we’ve seen in West Virginia, it’s been mandated in many hospitals. Deadline is October 1st. And if rumors are true, WVU Medical is attempting to buy out a lot of small independent hospitals and clinics. My cousin was working at a WV nursing home that made COVID shots mandatory on Sept 1st. She then went to a small medical center in Grantsville that seems to be an exception. They told her to have her religious exemption form filed out by October 31st and not to worry about it. That place will have no problem finding staff in the near future.
The booster shots represent “almost pure profit” compared with the initial doses... because they do not come with the research and development costs .
