Derek Chauvin plans to appeal his conviction and sentence for the murder of George Floyd — arguing the judge abused his discretion in critical points in the case, according to documents filed Thursday.
The former Minneapolis police officer said in the court filing that he intends to appeal on 14 grounds.
One claim made by Chauvin in the notice to appeal is that Judge Peter Cahill abused his discretion by denying him a request to move the trial out of Hennepin County because of pretrial publicity.

“ without BLM burning a few cities.”
What’s the downside?
L
Justice is supposed to blind,as a matter of principle. How did she get sight? How do we the people pull the blindfold back down?
I thought he had already filed an appeal.
That trial was laughable. If it had been done in our current cultural environment, the Zimmerman trial would have had the opposite outcome. Facts be damned.

That’s why I’m a bit concerned about the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. If he wins, cities may burn for a while. If he loses, something a bit more systemic and long lived may be the result. For starters a lot more ammo may be expended.
Where have you been for the past two hundred years or so?
His conviction should be overturned. He acted according to departmental training but failed to recognnize Floyds medical condition. Its not murder.
Manslaughter is the accurate charge.

Start with finishing off portland oregon, returning the rubblized real estate into
meadowland along the Willamette river.
He was the wrong color in the wrong profession and was railroaded.
Meanwhile, Ashli Babbitt's killer walks free and the Somali police officer that shot an innocent woman just had his case overturned:

I mean the jury was a tiny bit biased it would seem- looks like a slam dunk for a new trial.
One of the black jurors in the Chauvin trial was an activist who complained that the jury took too long reaching a verdict—probably anything longer than five minutes would have been too long for him. The white jurors on the trial may have been convinced Chauvin was guilty, or may have feared that their identities would be leaked if they voted to acquit.
Manslaughter? You just said he screwed up, that ain’t a crime
Manslaughter is a crime, even if the person did not intend to kill the person, IIRC.
You’re absolutely right.
Yep. BTW, I assumed by “guilty” you meant “not guilty”. 😉
I disagree! No charge is the accurate charge. George killed himself when he gulped the drugs that he tried to hide from the cops.
Good. Burn, baby, burn. It is time for that.
The trial was a sham. He didn’t even have knee on neck — video showed that. GF asked to get out of car and lay on street, he couldn’t breath because of his OD.
Agree, no justice here.
To me it comes down to one simple question, did George Floyd have a lethal dose of drugs in his body, or did he not?
