Senate Foreign Relations Committee member Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said he’ll support the nomination of Jeff Flake as U.S. ambassador to Turkey after meeting with Flake Tuesday.
“My friend Jeff Flake is a thoughtful and accomplished public servant who will represent the United States well in a complex region of the world,” Romney said in a statement to Deseret News. “He understands the importance of standing for U.S. interests in Turkey, and I look forward to supporting his nomination when it comes before the Senate.”
When his nomination was announced by the Biden administration in July, the former Republican senator from Arizona wrote that it reaffirmed “the best tradition of American foreign policy and diplomacy: the credo that partisan politics should stop at the water’s edge. U.S. foreign policy can and should be bipartisan.”

Flake is a Turkey alright.
Ambassador to Turkey? I thought he was aiming for the Pig position?
That is it in a nutshell.
If Mitt Romney supports anything, I am against it. What a piece of dirt he is.
He will live in Ankara. It’s where the Embassy and his residence is. It’s a very nice part of the city. Driving can be a hassle and I had a rental car but got it back to the airport without a scratch. Istanbul is probably more dangerous and far more crowded.
Between you and me, I didn’t like living in Ankara. Actually, I didn’t like living in Istanbul either.
Now Sinop and Karamusel I enjoyed very much.

Flake can get his hands on that Turkish Hash!! $$$$$
Flake endorses Flake!

By my count, that's only one party.
For starters, Flake would probably be easily tricked into turning over secret stuff. But you knew that.
Mormons stick together.........
Correct, just like a soiled diaper and a half eaten Big Mac smashed together at the bottom of a dumpster once the rancid juice they were floating in dries up a little.
I know some Flakes that live there...
I have a Cowboy Poetry book...written by Rolf M. Flake....
Some good people live down that way.....
I would bet his biggest qualification is an ignorance of the fundamentals of Islam. -Tom
Failing to be anti-Semitic is Islamaphobic.
He deserves Turkey, and Turkey deserves him.
What is a six letter word for a “religion”?
Muslim... and Mormon. Both of them “constructed” religions..
Islam from the “pen” of an illiterate goatherd M’ham head who wrote down verbatim the words of an Angel, and considers his “religion” of revealed truth to be the final one, there can be no other religion and all non-believers should die or be killed. A religion of violence as evangelism, and submission as the name.
Mormon— is the creation of a methodist with contrivances starting with a book on the early indigenous people of the U S - along with another angel, self named, said encounter producing supposed golden plates. The plates are said to tell the story of Middle Eastern Indigenous Americans (Middle Eastern?). And of course told never to reveal the golden plates to anyone—to this day no one has seen them or proven their existence. The “prophet” then went on to treasure seeking for hire with a “seer stone”. The notion of Latter Day saints introduced from this book. Whole cloth.
So why would a Mormon want to be an Ambassador in the Middle East? Perhaps he will enlighten Congress, or likely not.
Don’t forget the Partnership of FLAKE with Sen. Coons at the Kavenaugh SCOTUS nomination Senate Hearings chaired by Lindsey Graham. Flake is frankly ... a Flake and never doubt the money grubbing part of this, never ever.
I’m for it. Let him stay forever!
