Ford Health System is turning to immigration to solve its ongoing nursing shortage. The Detroit-based health system filed paperwork last week with international recruiting firms to hire 500 nurses from the Philippines over the next few years.
Henry Ford Health has about 1,000 open nursing positions across its five hospitals and outpatient centers and is struggling to keep up with its patient load, Bob Riney, COO and president of health care operations, told Crain's from the Mackinac Policy Conference on Mackinac Island.

With all these hospitals full to the limit you’d think they’d be able to pay nurses more money so they could hire americans.
Are there no American nurses?
There are a lot of natural born nurses who would be happy to work if the pay were better and they did not have to get shot up.
I assume these nurses will be informed of the “no jab/no work” policy well before they leave home.
I heard they are full because there are X number of beds per nurse.
All part of the plan.

Unless you are an illegal, can you even board a US bound plane without your shot record?
The invasion continues.
And to what standards are they trained? Or does that matter?
By all means, lets NOT raise nurse pay, open more nursing schools, or encourage people to get of their couch and become nurses.
Let’s opt of the Democrat and Chamber of Commerce solution - more cheap immigrants!
If repeated waves of invasion will be our country’s destiny at least during the Biden Administration, importing qualified nurses from the Phillipines can be seen as a net win for the USA. Most all the fillipinos I’ve ever worked with are quick learners and hard workers. They like to help each other out. I’m not saying they don’t have their rotten apples like each minority does, but that has usually been the exception to the rule, IMO.
We just need more nurses. How long does it take to become an RN? I believe it requires four years in college.
Nurse shortages are nationwide. Lots of demand, just not enough supply.
Don’t know about that- remember, the Henry Ford health system came out with a huge study a year ago saying HCQ worked for the CCP virus and the establishment went nuts.
What about all the patients in the Philippians. Does HFHS care?
What Are the Core Courses of Most Two-Year RN Programs?
A two-year degree in nursing prepares you to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to begin entry-level work in nursing. Most two-year programs require courses in anatomy, physiology, nursing fundamentals and more. Learn more about core courses required to become a registered nurse.
Not if they refuse to be vaccinated. Another large hospital system in Michigan will be importing docs and nurses to replace the ones who refuse to be vaccinated and will either quit or be fired.
My wife is a Filipino RN working in the USA.
I can assure you the Filipino RNs are trained just as well, if not better than their American counterparts.
A 4 year bachelor degree in nursing is a requirement for RNs in the Philippines - not a 2 year degree like in the USA.
All of the Philippine nursing schools are taught in English and all the text books are in English.
Phillippians? What’s the new testament got to do with this?
