WANTED: one honest, decent, middle-class politician who doesn’t want to be a rich celebrity.
Just imagine Bronx-born, feminist Democratic Rep. Bella Abzug showing up to a $35,000-a-plate dinner in a dress that cost more than some people in her district made a year? And then staying for the pathetic vegan dinner to hobnob with the unimaginably wealthy celebrities and other “elites”?
That’s what Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did at the Met Gala on Monday, sporting an Aurora James gown that declared: TAX THE RICH.
“The medium is the message . . . BEFORE anybody starts wilding out,” the congresswoman wrote on Instagram in response to critics calling her a hypocrite. “NYC elected officials are regularly invited to and attend the Met due to our responsibilities in overseeing our city’s cultural institutions that serve the public. I was one of several in attendance. Dress is borrowed.”
Where is the party of Ohio Sen. Howard Metzenbaum and astronaut John Glenn? Where is our Nellie Tayloe Ross (America’s first female governor) or Shirley Chisholm (first female presidential candidate)? People who went into politics not to make money or with an eye only for the next election, but for their constituents.
While the Democrats scream about #MeToo and social justice, Bill Clinton (the self-proclaimed “first black president”), an accused rapist, proven liar, friend to pedo-perv Jeffrey Epstein and craven social climber, is still lauded as a hero in the Hamptons — as is his wife, Hillary.

LOL, get real. This garbage plays and she knows it.
It finally took that dress to wake this person up about (D)’s?
The dress, AOC... Couldn’t care less. Making the “servant class” wear masks while they didn’t? THAT should be the story.
Certainly. The real story here is the constituency of her district are dumber than rocks. It’s not the pols but the electorate that keeps these people in business.
Took that much ... eh?
If Project Veritas had the balls, they would ABSCAM AOC by luring her interest in becoming Governor of Puerto Rico.
> Ten bucks says that within 4 years America’s Most Successful Bartender will be worth $10 million. <
AOC isn’t very smart. But eventually she’ll hire someone to ghostwrite a major book for her. Stupid people will buy it. So yeah, you’re right.
“Dress is borrowed”.
B S
WHO makes such a dress?
And then ‘lends it out???????/
Starting with the absolute greed and grandiosity of AOC.. (borrowed dress? Gimme a break) and the greed and white trash filth of the Clinton's... two steps forward...
Remembering there were once democrats who fought for their constituents under difficult situations for decent reasons is painful - but it shows the contrast with what democrats are putting out there today. Step three...
That said Paula Froelich , it's too late to 'come together'... it's time to divide the country peacefully into two countries. One for liberals - one for conservatives.
Both sides will be happier.
Welcome to my world, Froelich. I voted for two Democrats in 2018.* They won. I wound up regretting those, too. I will NEVER vote Dumb-O-Crat again. They’re a bunch of commies.
*Number 1 was for Dumb-O-Crat Frederick County (MD) Executive Jan Gardner. I had no desire to vote for the Maryland pile-of-sand GOP legislator who was running against her. I figured that a narrowly Republican county council would keep her in check. But it flipped to Dumb-O-Crat, and the council promptly began sniffing into GOP Sheriff Chuck Jenkins’ used of money for his 287(g) program to stop illegal aliens. Meanwhile, Gardner began planning to divert police funds to social workers and other things.
Number 2 was for Dumb-O-Crat Maryland treasurer Peter Franchot. My stepmother, not a raving liberal loon, recommended him and the opponent was an unknown. Unfortunately, a few months into his current term, he started baring his pro-LGBT fangs. I guess he’s OK with boys meddling in the girls’ locker rooms and what-not. Hopefully, I’m wrong.
That is my confession. I’m moving to Florida later this year, and I’m NOT bringing Maryland or Dumb-O-Crat with me.
I am very sorry Paula Froelich, but it sucks to be terminally stupid or at least as stupid as you sound.
It should have said, 'Tax that guy who almost relocated 20,000+ jobs in my district'
Many black voters (and I assume other people of color), when they see a politician of their race cashing in, they think, You go grrrrl! Whites long be cashing in on their privilege. It's about time we get ours!
You confuse Democrats with people who have a moral compass
Where is the party of Ohio Sen. Howard Metzenbaum and astronaut John Glenn? Where is our Nellie Tayloe Ross (America’s first female governor) or Shirley Chisholm (first female presidential candidate)? People who went into politics not to make money or with an eye only for the next election, but for their constituents.
They gone the way of FOCUS GROUPS.
Both parties now do research on every district. They find out what are the concerns of the voters. They then recruit a individual that either matches those concerns or can be re-imagined to appear to match those concerns.
This is not to actually solve any problem the voters of a particular district has but just to get them elected.
Once these newly printed Representative is sworn in their job is over. They will do and say what ever the party leaders want them to say or do.
Our elected officials have rigged the system so that only those with seniority have any real power and further it is a numbers game. The party with the most members become more powerful as they can set the agenda.
The party as a whole could care less about the voters or the freshman congress critters they (the parties) have their own agenda and that is the agenda who is wiling to pay the most for legislation.
Who is Paula Froelich again?
I can’t put Metzenbaum in that category. He was an absolutely vicious SOB.
