Can hardly blame them. I wouldn’t trust my national security to the US at this point.
Excellent idea ! US taxpayers are tired of paying for your defense anyway
The EU has wanted to take over the militaries of its members for a long time. This is nothing new.
I’m 100% in favor of letting Europe pay 100% of their own defense.
They’ve had their Muslim loving fingers in our pockets for way too long.
Who didn’t see this coming?
Whatever their various ideologies, the whole world is preparing for the life after America.
The trick will be to get the U.S. to pay for it.
Wonderful. They can handle their own welfare. We are broke.
de Gaulle never trusted a NATO (American) guarantee of France’s defense. de Gaulle wanted an independent deterrent with a French finger on the button. France still has that independent deterrent, the force de frappe. Taiwan, Japan and South Korea might want to follow the French example.
Run by a handful of unelected bureaucrats in Brussels. It’ll be like the Keystone Cops, but with nukes.
Milley and Biden couldn’t be bothered to notify Americans or our allies in Afghanistan that the U.S. military was sneaking out of that country in the middle of the night, but they thought it necessary to tell the Chi-coms that we’d give them a heads-up if we were going to attack them in the waning days of President Trump’s term of office.
And so it begins.
At least they are taking responsibility for their own military safety.
Folks we got burned by European armies twice last century.
That wasn’t enough?
If Europe develops an army, it will be more likely to be
used against us as not.
Please quit ignoring history like the Left.
A fourth Reich, no relation to any of the first three.
Now Russia has a bona fide excuse to beef up it’s military.
Yep!
As a matter of fact, nowadays, the Europeans are the conservatives and the adults in the room. The EU is actually quite more conservative than people in the US think. Bernie Sanders notwithstanding. (He is projecting his USSR experiences into the EU to make it more palatable.)
Afghanistan was a NATO action, but Bidet basically betrayed NATO by unilaterally pulling out. The criticism he got un Europe is beyond anything you can hear anywhere in the USA!
So, paradoxically, Bidet may achieved what several of his predecessors could not. Forcing EU to really arm themselves and forget the US military.
What a great idea. Let Germany rearm for a third time. What could possibly go wrong?
BS. More like a shortfall of gratitude and guts, but plenty of greed for Uncle Sam's generosity. Whoever wants Europe in the future can have it AFAIC.
