Former Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) has fallen short in his bid to return to his old job as Cleveland’s mayor.
Kucinich, who became the youngest mayor of a major U.S. city when he was first elected to the job in 1977, placed third on Tuesday in a seven-way primary to replace longtime Mayor Frank Jackson.
Nonprofit executive Justin Bibb emerged as the first-place finisher in the primary, winning about 27 percent of the vote. Cleveland City Council President Kevin Kelley came in second, beating out Kucinich by just over 1,100 votes.

Silly white guy. A white male is not allowed to be mayor of a major urban area. What a moron for him to have even tried.

"Nonprofit executive" is the perfect training ground for a politician.

No kidding. The guy who came in second -- and who will probably pick up almost all of Kucinich's votes -- is the best choice by a mile. A Democrat, but old school. Pro-police, pro-business, etc.. He's smart, and honest.
Don't know how it is going to go in the runoff, though. It's a black guy v. white guy, and some of the white leftists will vote for the black guy just on principle. But, the current mayor -- black guy -- has endorsed the white guy. So it's pretty complicated.

Unfortunately for Kucinich, memories are long regarding the "Dennis the Menace" era of Cleveland's history.
Only way to really make Kucinich acceptable would be to bring George Forbes back out of retirement to head the Cleveland City Council.

Surprising, considering mail in voting and that his dad was a postman...

With Kucinich out of the picture, the River is safe from catching fire again.
