The husband of the only female NYPD officer to die in the 9/11 terrorist attacks says he is disgusted with politicians who want photos ops on the attack anniversary but ignore cops every other day.
Officer Moira Smith, 38, died in collapse of the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Right up until her death, she was trying to help those who worked in the office building to get out alive.
James Smith, 60, said there would be “anti-police” politicians clamoring for photos on the 20th anniversary of the tragedy Saturday “with their arms around heroes and trying to bask in the reflected glory of what my wife and other officers did.”
But it's all an act, he said.
“By September 12, they’ll be back to defunding the police. I’ve no intention of being anywhere near it,” he told the U.S. Sun.

Moira Smith was an incredible story on 9-11 and she should be held above everyone else in the pantheon of brave and courageous women- but she won’t...
When Vogue magazine or some other outlet named Bruce Jenner “woman of the year,” Moira’s husband returned the award they had given his wife in disgust.

I believe that picture was taken after they named a park or put up a statue of Moira.
I remember reading months later, the husband had taken the daughter (little girl in the picture) to Disney World to get away from it all. Disney was offering NYPD/FDNY great discounts. They were at the Polynesian Resort in WDW and he received a call- they had found the remains of his wife at Ground Zero.
I don’t blame any in the Police Force and others for pushing back today. Tired of watching our “Heroes” get lambasted over a few bad apples in the bunch. There’s not a single organization today there aren’t bad apples. People need to chill and let our officers, emu’s, etc. do their jobs.
You can blame politicians for that..not officers.

Every year, I hang up a picture of something from 9/11 in my office. This year, I had a picture of Moira Smith. Four people asked me about her.
The first site I saw with pictures of 9/11 had all pictures of the new towers. Nice and uplifting, but I wanted a reminder of the tragedy so we don’t forget. I opted for Moira and another picture of a jumper.
My company lost 176 souls that day. Never, ever forget!
They can never say that about Trump. He cared a ,ot about cops, firemen, etc, and they knew it and really appreciated it
I generally watch videos of the actual event and the voices of those who were in it....including the air traffic controllers etc. It gives you a broad idea of the day and event.
But I also do this throughout the year. But it angers me when I see the people and politicians crying out to defund our officers of the law will also stand and dare to honor those same police.
