He said to tour with Van, you had to know 300 songs
I don't doubt that one bit. :-)

All time? B1ng Crosby and Dean Martin. I admit I favor baritones.

Flooding was awful here. Many people live in basements, and they saw a lot of damage. Torah scrolls got damaged — an ill omen.

Got to the party late but have to get my two-cents in. There are lots of great vocal performances from some guys who aren't always masterful vocalists but their voice is just perfect for a particular song. Here are two from the country side:
Blues Eyes Crying in the Rain by Willie Nelson Far from a great vocalist but Willie Nelson nails this one.
Green Green Grass of Home by Kenny Rogers I have always considered Kenny Rogers to be decent vocalist but this is about perfect IMO.
When I think of consistently great vocal performers, three names pop to mind: Burton Cummings of Guess Who, Marty Robbins, and Mike Smith, the primary vocalist for The Dave Clark Five. All three of these guys were consistently great vocalists.
One really outstanding vocalist from country music is Hank Williams, Jr. I had never really appreciated this until late one night driving. My wife was humoring me because I was driving and let me play my country CDs. She had been silent for a while but suddenly asked me "Who is that singing with Johnny Cash? He has a great voice." It really takes a great voice to upstage Johnny Cash. It was Hank, Jr.: That Old Wheel by Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, Jr.

The best southern rock voice I’ve ever heard. Including Allman and VanZant.

I bought seats, on purpose, in the top balcony of Radio City Music Hall so my Wife and I could experience Tony singing this without a mic. It was glorious, and it was before I had hearing aids. The man was, and is, remarkable…
