(Reuters) - California's grid operator has asked the Biden administration to allow some natural gas power plants to operate without pollution restrictions for 60 days to shore up the state's tight electricity supplies, the U.S. Energy Department said on Thursday.
The California Independent System Operator (CAISO), which is seeking an emergency order by Sept. 10, made the ask in a Sept. 7 letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. The agency is reviewing the request, an official said.
The state is increasingly relying on large amounts of wind and solar energy that only run when the wind is blowing or the sun is shining.

"The Diablo Canyon Power Plant has been the only nuclear power station in California since the closure of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station in 2013. Due to the changing dynamics of electricity generation in California, Diablo Canyon is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2025."

People have to run their home generators on something. PG&E offers nothing but Brown and Blackouts. Newsom is so tiresom.
Texas made this request during the week of freeze. If they were allowed to run gas plants at max for 7 days, there would have been no issues with the grid. The Biden admin said you can but you must pay a penalty, which was so large it was beyond the grid operators ability to say yes. The result was people dying. I will be very interested to see what the Biden admin response is for a blue state.

They have blocked natural gas in new construction homes in
CA also.
Brilliant, when you have nothing to replace it.
All this environmental shutdown to prevent fires, is nothing
more than smoke and mirrors.
When the temperature rises there is need for electricity.
All they have to do it blame high winds which naturally
occur in hot weather, and they conveniently have more
power to redirect, while the unsuspecting public sits in
the dark.

I hope the State has conveyed this “revelation” to the High Commissioner of Energy in the Biden clown show.
Molten salt nuclear power NOW!
Not a good thing for a government official to do. According Compensation by Ralph Waldo Emerson what he has done that resulted in deaths is part of the great cycle of actions and reactions as explained in his essay. All of us can simply watch as observers.
Brian Tracy website summarized it: ...." that each person is compensated in like manner for that which he or she has contributed. The Law of Compensation is another restatement of the Law of Sowing and Reaping."

September and October are often very hot in California. It doesn’t cool down until mid to late October. If we are luck, rains start in early November.
