Publicly declaring one’s chosen gender pronouns has become a trend in some business correspondence and social media profiles.
Volunteering one’s pronouns is seen as a sign of sensitivity and solidarity with people of various gender identities, and also a way to avoid mistaken identity.
But should public school teachers ask children to reveal their identity?
Parents say that’s happening in some Nebraska schools.
Parents of children attending the Papillion La Vista, Lincoln, Omaha, Hastings and Cozad districts told The World-Herald that teachers asked their children in middle and high school to indicate their choice of pronouns.
Several parents said this was done without them knowing or approving.
Officials with the Papillion La Vista Community Schools said teachers who asked for the pronouns did so because they wanted to make students of diverse gender identities feel welcome in class.
Not all teachers in Papillion La Vista did it, and there was not a districtwide directive for them to do it, spokeswoman Annette Eyman said.
“It’s meant with the best of intentions to include kids and create a climate in the classroom where all kids feel a connection to the teacher,” she said.

I get confused.
I thought the latest was that they aren’t supposed to refer to boys and girls in school at all. I thought I heard that the latest was to divide classes into groups such as the Purple Penguins and Orange Tigers, rather than grouping as boys and girls.
I can’t keep up with all of this. I know I will be in re-education camp someday. One innocent careless remark about boys and girls in school, and I will be sent away.
Sarcasm, I hope.
“Volunteering one’s pronouns is seen as a sign of sensitivity and solidarity with people of various gender identities, and also a way to avoid mistaken identity.”
No, it is a sign of deviance acceptance.
Make it easy....if you’re a teacher simply tell your class you will be addressed as Mr (last name) like they do in Star Trek.
If such questions were ordered by principals, superintendents, or school boards, they should be summarily fired.
“She believes that the teacher had good intentions, for the most part, but didn’t think through the consequences.”
...this rationalizing BS is what liberals want and designed. This parent is scared to say what’s really on her mind because she fears doxing, losing her job and character assassination. “Good intentions” my a**!
Meanwhile Chinese kids are learning calculus.
Parents should coach their children to say, “My pronouns are God/Lord. Please use them and respect my pronouns.”
Elections are coming up. From sea to shining sea, school boards need to be overthrown. Given the muddle-headed parent quoted here, it won’t be happening in in this particular district. Anyway, that’s my opinion.

How about teaching children proper grammar and parts of speech?
Parents in Nebraska ought to be able to control their school boards, purge the nonsense and the people who promote it.
Back when I was in grade school, biological boys were required to dress in pants, biological girls were required to wear dresses. No questions necessary.
Look at the bright side … at least the kids know what a pronoun is now. The teachers are so ignorant they probably had to look it up themselves! LOL!
And we didn’t need the word biological before boy or girl. We just were. We knew which bathroom to use by first grade. (we had a single bathroom in the kindergarten classroom)
This brainwashed educrat is just transmitting the bureaucratic norms from her own educrat hierarchy.
I have friends in state-run academia who tell me that their internal zoom meetings, or meetings with staff at others schools all begin with a declaration of pronouns.
Yep, I’m old enough to remember dress codes in school such as you describe.
And boys were not allowed to have hair long enough to cover the ears or go below the collar.
Times have changed, what can we say.
I was thinking the same thing!
As was Timothy Carey was in THE WORLD’S GREATEST SINNER.(1962)
Why should we care, this only happens in BLUE STATES, as in this case, while most of us are in Red States. How do I know that - simple, people here still have their kids in public schools, so I guess that means they’re ‘safe’ from this crap.
Why even use or worry about “pronouns”????
just call the kids by their name...Johnny or Suzie...whatever...
Why wouldnt a teacher know by looking at a child that they are either a she/her or a he/his...
Teachers need to act normal even if the parents wont...
