The Hurricane Ida death toll rose to five late on Monday after a 71-year-old man was thought to have been killed by an alligator in Louisiana, while a Mississippi highway collapse killed two people and injured ten others.
The alligator attack took place in the man's shed in the town of Slidell in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, according to WWL-TV, citing the man's wife who called the police. The victim's body has not been found.
Meanwhile, pictures from the scene of the highway collapse showed two badly damaged vehicles in a large hole which the road had fallen into, with officials saying both lanes of Highway 26, found west of Lucedale, had collapsed as a result of storm damage...

Just damn. Wasted opportunity with such a potential catastrophe and no republican in any office to blame it on. I guess they will just have to chalk it up to global warming.
Those flow waters are full of gators and snakes (and nutria).
The gator attack was clearly a Covid death.
After a big storm those snakes are in a really bad mood too.
No doubt. And moccasins already have an attitude to begin with.
> fears grow storm has created ‘perfect petri dish’ for Delta variant
Will we ever go back to global warming? The Covid fear porn is much more effective at controlling people.
That or blame the Zionist occupation of Palestine and the continuing oppression of BIPOCs and LGBTQs...
Was the 71 year old the last one thrown to the alligator?
It will be interesting to watch how the media treats Biden about Ida versus how it treated Bush after Katrina. At least Shep Smith is not out there yelling about people not getting bottled water and it’s all the President’s fault.
The evening news assured me that joe biden is sending help. He is in control. He cares. He is not like that evil George Bush.
Reality: biden did nothing. The media carefully protected him and purposely avoided any criticism of their new god.
When there is a catastrophe, the media searches up the chain of responsibility for the nearest Republican. When they find him, all the blame goes to him. For Ida, there is no Republican, so NO ONE is blamed.
It is no longer interesting.
It is standard and has been for thirty years at least
And conservatives do nothing except complain.
Instead of holding the liars responsible.
For the misinformation that leads our country deeper into the abyss
I can’t wait until I never hear the word “CoVid” again. I wonder how many years it will be before that happens.
I don’t see any reason to rebuild. Perhaps make New Orleans a vacation spot where people go for a few days. It’s going to cost a fortune to rebuild again until what? The next major hurricane? So dumb.

In the states of LA and FL....perhaps MS as well, there is NO WAY that I would be walking around ANYWHERE that is not absolutely required while it is underwater.
I am willing to say the wife was probably telling him not to walk around in that shed. Sigh.
I can understand him wanting to check out his property....it just could have waited.....
So much devastation.
Problem: all the electricity comes into the city from the west (because that's where the power plants are), and that's where the worst of the storm hit, so now all of the power lines are down. You don't want to be near any major city when the power goes out for a long period of time.

Bush did a great job with Katrina; but he refused to play offense against leftist blame shifting, throwing a capable, albeit non-charismatic, FEMA subordinate under the bus to appease his critics.
He was just trying to lend a hand. Come on, man
Just you wait until CNN takes Biden to task for botching the hurricane response! ..... still waiting....
