Maj. Gen. Chris Donahue, commander of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, was the last soldier to leave Afghanistan, officials said Monday.
U.S. Central Command released a picture of Donahue preparing to board the final military C-17 cargo plane to leave Hamid Karzai International Airport...

Sure, the brass got their pose for a photo opp.
Captain is suppose to go down with the ship...
Did the general smile and wave from an airplane window, to the Americans who were stuck on Afghan soil down below?
Right after he released the rescue dogs for the cavemen to use for target practice.
It did not say every US Citizen was out. It did not say every Christian was out. It did not say that those who acted as translators are all out. I do so despise MSNBC.
Is Maj. Gen. Chris Donahue a piece of crap with a bunch of worthless ribbons like Milley or is he a real general?
Too bad, as a former Army soldier I have lost so much respect for the military brass as a result of pukes like Milley.
Well said Joe.
The fatal failure of Gen. Mark A. Milley over closing Bagram Air Base
Thank you for the link.
It was no Hal Moore moment, that’s for sure. Not when American and NATO country citizens were left behind enemy lines.

Got it in one. He’s the guy who slammed the Brits for embarrassing US troops by evacuating their people outside the wire ; he’s the guy who closed the base gate on 300 girls from American University - now hiding or awaiting mass execution ; he’s the guy that ordered his troops to turn American citizens away and over to the tallies. A piece of crap, but he got his photo op.
In old America the generals wanted a photo of them wading ashore. Now they want photos of turn being the last to retreat. That Ivy League JFK school of government failure is the one who refused to rescue Americans and got angry at a Brit commander for doing so.
They don’t even have enough sense to be embarrassed.
He even carried a rifle as a prop. Because you know, Generals often blaze away in firefights and never just carry a ceremonial pistol instead.
Embarrassing.
I liked to test out new soldiers when out in the field. I'd ask a new private to go get a "bucket of steam", so we could steam clean my jeep's engine.
You could tell by the soldier's reaction what kind of soldier they'd be. If he took it in good humor, you knew he'd be ok.
LOL, it was my stepfather who suggested the joke, he was a soldier in WWII.
I was lucky, the Colonels and Generals that I worked for were men of integrity and possessed great leadership.
We had a Group Commander that liked to drive around on Friday afternoons, to visit a few of his batteries without notice.
I was usually the only officer on site when he arrived, so I got a fair amount of face time with him. During one visit, I was wearing overalls, I was underneath a track observing one of my mechanics at work.
The Colonel's first question to me was, "Lieutenant, why are you wearing coveralls, you're supposed to be a supervisor." He had a gleam in his eye that said to me, "Good job LT, but I'm a Colonel now, and this is how Colonels are supposed to talk...carry on, just wait until I leave to put it back on."
Battalion level was as high I wanted to go. Too much politics at levels above that. I had no desire to be the assistant to the assistant S-3.
I know it’s not something to laugh at, but I couldn’t help it. That made me LOL.
This guy stained the 82nd. They turned away Americans at the airport.
Yeah - Hal Moore is what I thought of as well.
However, even that isn’t so clear cut. Moore and his troops were relieved by others. The others ended up having to hump it out to another landing zone (LZ Albany). On the way there they were attacked by the NVA and suffered huge losses.
Not due to anything Moore did - but just poor intelligence and higher up command.
