I just canceled my Chase CC account Friday. Not because of wokeness, I had no idea they were doing this to General Flynn, I canceled because they sent me a rate increase!
I haven’t carried a balance for years, now they want to jack the rate…screw them. They are in my do not do business with list. Businesses I have used in the past are getting canceled right and left. It amazes me how in the past 10 years businesses have decided socialist justice positions are more important than their products.
I cut the cable/satellite on Mother’s Day. You cannot believe the changes that made! Harry’s Shavers a month ago, COSTCO 2 weeks ago, (that one is going to actually be a personal sacrifice because only they make several items I enjoy and cannot be duplicated elsewhere at the same quality) and on last Friday I cut AT&T loose even though I got a monthly 25% discount because of a business perk. Buh-bye fools.
Use crypto, be your own bank, people in Nigeria are using it to get haircuts.

Best thing to do is keep the account (assuming it is a no fee card) and just cut the card or just not use it. Then if you are signed up for electronic statements, switch back to paper statements.
This will take away income and increase expenses.
Credit card companies make money 3 ways:
1.They collect a fee from the merchant when you use you card. They get a flat fee for each use (I believe between .10 and .25) plus 1.5 - 3% of the transaction amount. This is called interchange income
2. Interest income. If you carry a balance you are paying dearly.
3. Fee income. Annual fees, late fees, over limit fees.
Expenses:
1. Maintaining the account
2. I believe they pay a fee to VISA and MasterCard for their branding and services.
3. Statements and notices.
4. Call center customer service
So you can hurt these companies more by keeping the account open and being a PITA customer. Make them send you paper notices and statements. Call the call center and ask stupid questions….
Use a debit card?
Well if they don't like this treatment, they should build their own internet and credit card companies.
It’s not just the Chase brand card.
They also process for private companies, like Marriott. Check the backside of any store cards you have for the issuing bank.
Also report your card lost every few months. If they offer fast replacement (express) for free, request it. Drive up their costs….
