An FBI agent who helped ‘foil’ a conspiracy to abduct Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer may have used his knowledge of the case to give credibility to his private cyber intelligence company, recently filed court documents claim.
Lawyers for five defendants accused of trying to kidnap the Democratic governor are seeking information about special agent Jayson Chambers after a BuzzFeed report claimed that the FBI agent may have published tweets about the undercover operation before it was published. The counterfeit kidnapping plot — allegedly hatched in retaliation for Whitmer’s Covid-19 measures — was originally used as evidence of the domestic threat posed by right-wing extremism. But the narrative began to fall art after it was revealed that at least 12 undercover informants played major roles in the scheme, leading to claims of entry.
According to BuzzFeed, a “Right troll” who claimed to be the CEO of Exeintel, an internet intelligence company, the bulb to tweet several times about the FBI’s investigation before the alleged abduction plot was thwarted. The account, @ravagiing, issued a cryptic warning (“Don’t worry Michigan, I told you there’s a lot more coming soon”) a few hours before the FBI arrested nearly a dozen suspects in October. As it turns out, Chambers is listed as the CEO of a company called Exeintel. It is unclear whether the FBI special agent was behind the prophetic tweets.
In a new post filed Friday night, lawyers for five men accused of the kidnapping conspiracy asked for more information about Special Agent Chambers and his communication with an undercover informant who allegedly played a key role in the organization of the plot.
“Repeated tweets sought attention and tried to show that the CEO was a valuable source of information to (paying) third parties,” the trial claimedwith reference to the social media activity associated with Chambers and his private intelligence firm.
It is possible that the FBI may have known about Chambers’ business activities. According to BuzzFeed, FBI agents who want to own private companies or have side concerts must receive explicit permission from the agency.
The peculiar twist comes less than a week after one of the men charged in the kidnapping plan, Ty Garbin, received a six-year sentence after pleading guilty. Garbin has agreed to testify against his alleged accomplices.
Conservative scientists have argued that the FBI’s stabbing operation, which was unveiled ahead of the 2020 presidential election, was heavily politicized and served to deliberately discredit Donald Trump and his supporters.
Defense advisers to the five defendants have stressed that the alleged plot would never have taken place without the FBI’s active involvement and accused the government of essentially hatching a plot, which it later falsified.
Prosecutors, however, have insisted that the defendants were “Arranged to take part in the kidnapping” and that their access requirements were invalid.
the FBI arrested nearly a dozen suspects in October
Does this mean the majority of the group's members were actually undercover FBI agents, because that's what it sounds like?
If so, what were the group dynamics like? Who was really pushing for action? Did the undercover agents, which were the majority of the group, have the influence to push the recalcitrant members over the edge?
Why are FBIAS agents allowed to moonlight?
When I worked for major corporation I had to sign a non-compete and agree not to use my skills elsewhere.
For crying out loud.
Are we shocked that the American gestapo is dirty?
Hope this (these) cases get thrown out on their ear. Primary agent was arrested following beating his wife over a wife swapping incident. What Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity. NONE!
Has Hannity weighed in yet?
Is this another one of those “outstanding rank & file FBI agents” Hannity has been telling us about, since when? The 20th Century?
Fbi needs to have its budget cut until such a time that they behave themselves or simply cease to exist. They are a threat to security of this nation.
No offense to the FBI agent currently assigned to spy on my internet posting of course
NO WAY are the FBI involved in a corrupt way! Just remember, there remains in the FBI those who are faithfully honest! (BARF ALERT!!) DEFUND THE FIB!
“...I had to sign a non-compete and agree not to use my skills elsewhere.”
Illegal without some expiration date (e.g., 4-5 yrs).
It was an annual thing.
5 defendants and 12 FBI informants?
That doesn’t surprise me. FIB agents have taken gifts, and offers of sex from members of the media in exchange for information.
Thank God they got a Corrupt Judge that is Susceptible to taking Bribes to oversee this case, otherwise it would have been dismissed and the FBI Agents would be in Prison
The writing is so weird that it must have been machine translated from Russian or Chinese. And that’s weird because all the contributors have very American-sounding names.
Here’s a quote from one of today’s sports articles:
“The latest blow to their depth card involves starting by running back JK Dobbins, who was run off early in the final of the preseason against the Washington Football Team with a knee injury in the parents. Dobbins caught a short pass and was then greeted by two different Washington defenders, who hit him low. The race back remained on the ground for some time, and was then helped off the field by two coaches.”
