But the decision from US President Joe Biden to begin withdrawing troops from the crisis-hit country has sparked a furious reaction. One person raged on Twitter: "This is disgraceful!" Another said: "And our NATO allies are telling us not to. Why are we doing this?"

if this was a deal with the devil, made several days ago to broker a temporary peace while such withdrawal efforts as practical were performed in relative peace, then any further protest may just be only so much drama...

The Brits, French, Germans, etc still have thousands that they want to evacuate. The French asked for an extension beyond Aug. 31 yesterday.
Something about broken eggs when tries to "remake" a nation (hat tip to Obama). The MSM is comfortable with that.

Those stranded have only one hope now, that a group of Field Grade officers in the Pentagon will grab the bull by the horns, dismiss the General Grade officer corps, announce that the civilian government is no longer capable of fulfilling their duties that the American people have entrusted them with and then proceed to do whatever it takes to rescue the stranded Americans left behind. Any blowback from the Taliban must be met with earth shattering, cataclysmic military force no matter what the price or repercussions. If we’re going to plant our flag on any hill with the determination to win or die, this is that time and place.

If he gets the 10,000 out by the 31st then fine, pull all the troops out. If he doesn’t then it’ll be interesting to see what he does.

I have no doubt that President Trump would ‘explain’ to the Taliban that we’d be taking out every American and taking as much time as necessary to do the job. I imagine he’d also ‘explain’ to the Taliban that being any where near our military equipment would be hazardous to their health since there’d be lots of explosions taking place.
And I believe the Taliban would believe him.
