New Zealand’s government has extended its nationwide lockdown as COVID-19 cases grow around the world.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Monday said the nation's lockdown will continue until the end of August, adding that new data model shows the current outbreak in the country will peak within the next few days, the Associated Press reported.

“We do need more information. We need more certainty. We don’t want to take any risks with delta,” Ardern said, referring to the highly-contagious variant. “If the world has taught us anything, it is to be cautious with this variant of COVID-19.”

Just flattening the curve again and again and again...

With NZ relying on tourism for a major part of the economy, these lockdowns must be doing great things economically…

BTW, what happened to New Zealand and Australia? Is it because they’re run by women? I used to think that there were real men down there.

BTW, this is a great example of why we shouldn’t have a woman president. I say this even though I am a woman.

We don’t need a weepy Lifetime watcher in the Oval Office.

Thank you. I was wondering if they had more than 5 cases.

72 / 5000000 = 0.0000144

With those odds one can’t be too careful /s

I worked for a woman when I was starting out in Banking. It was the first and last time I did it.

If your idea of a what constitutes a “case” is sufficiently open ended, the test will continue to rule, and the lockdowns will never end.

I remember the joy we all felt when the common cold was simply a memory from bygone ages. Thank the stars for science. We didn’t?

There will never be zero COVID. It is here to stay and that is how the Chinese planned it.

100%. When does her term expire? The good people of New Zealand need to rise up and protest in key cities. Amazing how many autocrat tyrants are running so many countries today using the same playbook.

I’m a woman too and I agree and what we need in female leaders is more Margaret Thatcher types who say” “Don’t go wobbly now!”

And if you’ve ever been to New Zealand, other than Auckland, you can drive down the road for 20 min and never see another car.
My passengers job was to remind me “Keep LEFT” so I didn’t forget what side of the road to drive on.
