The US withdrawal from Afghanistan was wrong and based on an "imbecilic" slogan, former PM Tony Blair has said.
He described the decision to withdraw troops from the country as "tragic, dangerous and unnecessary".
Mr Blair, who sent troops into Afghanistan 20 years ago, said UK involvement in Afghanistan was not a "hopeless endeavour" despite the Taliban takeover.
And the sacrifice made by British troops "was not in vain", he added. Mr Blair said achievements in the country over the past 20 years - including a generation growing up without Taliban rule - was a "good cause" that "matters today,
He said the Taliban "will give protection and succour to Al Qaeda - you've got Isis trying to operate in the country at the same time".
"You look round the world and the only people really cheering this decision are the people hostile to Western interests," he added.

What slogan?
“ending the forever wars”
Because we stop doesn’t mean they will.
“ending the forever wars” and launching new wars as we speak.
I figure Biden is getting paid by the ChiComs for all the hardware the Taliban will send to them.
I finally found what I think they mean and it is: "No More Forever Wars". P-poor writing if you ask me, but I'm no "journalism" student.
We have a pretend president of such low respect that even the government of Elbonia issued a statement saying, “Your president eats kitty liver.”
The State Depatment stuttered and made complete Obamaholes of themselves (can they do anything else) stating that Biden was really honorable, and it was really Trump’s fault.
This makes sense. Withdrawal is popular, so they are bringing that up, no matter what. It’s a clever deflection.
Wars can be ended by winning, by losing or by getting out in an orderly fashion.
Wars can also be ended by idiots like the ones ruling our country - leaving with chaos and destruction.

The Globalists and the Military-Industrial Complex like to constantly have pointless wars. The only winners are the puppet-masters who pull the strings.
Ending the Forever Wars is a good idea.
No one will invade the US. We can protect our shipping lanes and project force if needed. But there is no reason for us to have boots on the ground anywhere. The Forever Wars are not in our best interest.
But the lesson that the Globalists are pushing is: “Boy, that Afghanistan withdrawal was bad, huh? Bet you’re sorry you tried to end the Forever Wars, huh? Bet you’ll be happy to invade, and stay, and fight somewhere else next time, huh?”
I thought the slogan would be:

I completely agree.
However, blair's reasoning includes staying in afghanistan indefintely, a limey liz cheney.
For that reason, blair can buzz off.
Victory being defined as the total annihilation of the stated enemy.
I could go on a real rant here, but it isn't good for my blood pressure and won't make a difference at all.
The British have had their fingers inside the anus of Afghanistan for over 200 years through repeated invasions, political bribery and manipulating the tribes for the benefit of Britain over Russia and China.
Perpetual armed conflict is the nature of Afghanistan for foreign invaders. Free elections and school girls are not worth the blood of Western troops in that God forsaken country.
Tony Blair is serving his globalist masters. This is their way of blaming President Trump yet again.
Tony Blair, please reacquaint yourself on the history of British presence in India, how nearly 200 years -— 200! -— ended in a rapid withdrawal that resulted in massive problems. Perhaps 300 years would have done the trick. And so too it might have in Afghanistan. But I don’t think waiting it out would have been the right call either.
