As COVID-19 cases rise in Mississippi, the state’s Department of Health on Friday sent out an alert warning those who test positive for COVID-19 to isolate for 10 days or face up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
Fox News reported that the order issued Friday by State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said that those “infected with COVID-19 must remain in the home or other appropriate residential location for 10 days from onset of illness.”
Dobbs added that people isolating due to a positive COVID-19 test don’t need a negative test to end their quarantine, but do need to be “fever free for at least 24 hours with improvement of other symptoms.” Further, any students or faculty in K-12 schools who test positive for COVID-19 are not allowed on campus during the isolation period.
Anyone who doesn’t follow this protocol, Dobbs wrote, faces stiff penalties.
“The failure or refusal to obey the lawful order of a health officer is, at a minimum, a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $500.00 (41-3-59) or imprisonment for six months or both. If a life-threatening disease is involved, failure or refusal to obey the lawful order of a health officer is a felony, punishable by a fine of up to $5,000.00 or imprisonment for up to five years or both (41- 23-2),” Dobbs wrote.
The health officer then defined isolation as limiting exposure to household contacts and disallow visitors.
“Please stay in a specific room away from others in your home. Use a separate bathroom if available. If you need to be around others in your home, you should wear a face mask,” Dobbs added.

Isolating positive cases from the general non vulnerable population just gives the virus a chance to grow stronger.

I have a buddy that lives there and is pretty in tune with what goes on. The state has more than it’s fair share of RINO/GOPe types.
From what I can tell, the political apparatus is still run by the Barbour family and they’re as corrupt as any of the current crop of RINOs, Assistant Democrats, GOPe, Chamber of Commerce shills in Congress now.
They were the ones that finagled Cochran going back one more time, over McDaniel. Things got bad when folks were learning that Cochran had to be led around the Capitol because he didn’t know where he was going. Kind of like our President, now.

Wonder why the aids folks can now go around infecting people and its a misdemeanor, and insurance forks out hundreds of thousands of dollars without complaint for their meds, and they can give blood now...?
For a disease that is known to kill everyone and shorten their lives, nada. And is almost totally avoidable with personal restraint.
During a pandemic there is nothing wrong with quarantining those who are sick with it. Whateverthehell happened the last 18 months I have no idea!!

Anyone with a brain knows that this virus can be really bad for some. But, there’s also a 99.7% chance that you’ll be fine and the large majority of that will beat it without any medical intervention.
We either have had it ourselves, at some point, or we definitely know someone that has. Some didn’t have any issues whatsoever, some got their a$$es kicked for a little bit.
But, at this point, how many folks, knowing that they have it, are really going to be that selfish and go out and about? I’m thinking that number is tiny, really really tiny. I think most folks have enough sense to let folks know what’s up, stay home for a little bit.
One of the weirdest things about all of this nonsense. Someone gets tested at a location, other than a hospital, come up positive, told to go home, drink water, take Tylenol and call back if symptoms worsen. And then, after 10-14 days, if they’re feeling better, get back to their lives. I’m sorry, but that doesn’t sound like much of a serious treatment protocol for the deadliest virus on the planet.

Obviously the sick should stay home. But that is not what the decree reads.
