I don’t think the ones that participate in the reserve have a choice. They make the interiors of the cabins quickly removable and the planes are equipped with military type fittings underneath. This costs weight so the airlines are paid for this.

Major airlines declined to bring Americans out of WUHAN.
Kalitta Air (Cargo) went in got at least 3 plane loads of American & took them to March AFB in Calif.
