Most US embassy staffers in Afghanistan were awaiting evacuation at Kabul airport Sunday — which was “taking fire” as Taliban forces moved in amid the deteriorating situation, according to reports.
“The security situation in Kabul is changing quickly, including at the airport,” the US Embassy in Afghanistan said Sunday.
“Where are reports of the airport taking fire,” the announcement said. “Therefore we are instructing US citizens to shelter in place.”
The embassy urged the families of US citizens in the troubled nation to file forms for immigrant visas “as soon as possible.”

There is something very odd about Biden not making a public appearance. Some have noted that the strange photo of him sitting at the conference table shows a clock with UK time two, instead of the accurate three hours behind Moscow time; could this be an “old” photo burnished for this purpose? Same, UK PM Boris Johnson is trying to orchestrate a united front through NATO as the UK Daily Express reports bc “Biden is AWOL”.

I don’t understand this aspect of the Afghanistan evacuation at all.
American citizens, who have American passports, are told to file for immigrant visas? Why does an American citizen need to get an “immigrant visa” to return to America?
Does anyone here know how this works? Why does a passport holding American need to get a visa of some sort to leave Afghanistan?

I read that as US citizens who have family there. The family is suppose to try to get a visa.
The fall of Kabul is not as notable for what is taking place in Kabul, but for what is going to take place in the next 15-20 years, both around the world and here at home.
Who should be more emboldened by this defeat of our government than Americans themselves?
Nonetheless, the moderns will win. We are but flying fishes playing as Global China crosses the bay.
