Three stowaways fell hundreds of feet to their deaths from a military jet and at least five others have been killed at Kabul airport as thousands of desperate Afghans try to flee the Taliban by clambering on to rescue flights in increasingly chaotic scenes in the capital.

Thousands of terrified people have descended on Hamad Karzai airport as the UK, US and other western countries fly out their citizens and diplomats on military aircraft following the lightning victory of the Taliban over the Afghan government.

All commercial flights have been suspended, leading to the desperate civilians climbing on to the fuselage of departing military planes and then trying to stowaway through the wheel housings.

Those Taliban are very smart. They could easily shut down the airport. These images and videos are just adding to the worst foreign policy debacle since the fall of Saigon. There are rumors the US is bribing the Taliban to let the airport operate.

I fear the optics of the American withdrawal are going to be much worse. I know the character of the soldiers that have been deployed. My SIL is among them. They are good men. It should not reflect on them. This is 100% squarely Biden's fault.

It appears that command is giving up on airlifting Afghanis. There is no food, no water, no sanitation at the Kabul airport. There are over 60k trying to flee. If they go back into Kabul they fear they will be killed.

I fully expect that once the last civilian Americans fly out, the military will following. They will leave their vehicles on the ground and Afghanis will bum rush the planes as they leave. The military may have to fight their way while boarding aircraft. It is going to be ugly. I hope I am wrong, but this has been all too predictable so far.
