The even larger story is that nation-building military interventionism that we saw under Bush and Obama (Biden also has a long history of supporting this) doesn’t work.

According to most recent report the Taliban controls the airport. These are Taliban, not civs trying to escape. Notice there are no women?
If they were Taliban then they were probably trying to drag the plane down.
Videos showing Apache helicopters flying low trying to get civilians out of the way while C-17 are trying to take off. What a disaster.
