Ya know, I just woke up thinking about the total incompetence of this administration form the chaos at the border to the messaging on covid to the Afghan pullout.

We need to set up a spy network in Afghanistan. Open warfare was never going to be effective when our goal was merely to keep the area from becoming a safe haven for the world jihadi movement.
Afghanistan has always been unconquerable and unrulable (well, at least since the Tang Dynasty and later Genghis Khan).
Better to do as Israel has done in Iran...seed the place with spies. Have good intel on developments and blow things up as need be.

Ghani always seemed to be a squish. Countries like this need a strong man dictator type to run them. The people are not compatible with a democratic form of self government.
I remember all the European Leaders including Boris Johnson being really glad Trump was gone and Biden was now POTUS, good luck with him now that your wish has been granted.
