Insurgents tightened grip on Afghanistan by capturing Mazar-e-Sharif - a heavily defended city in the north
Fighters were then filmed raiding the luxurious home of infamous warlord Army Marshal Rashid Dostum
In a statement last night, US President Joe Biden blamed Donald Trump and the Afghan army for the carnage
He said he 'will not pass this war onto a fifth president' and criticsed the Afghan Army for failing to fight
Taliban fighters have invaded the palatial home of top Afghan warlord and US ally and videoed themselves lounging on his gold furniture and inspecting his golden tea set - as their advance closes on capital Kabul amid a scramble to get Westerners out.
General Rashid Dostum's home is in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif which fell to the Taliban yesterday and now there are claims that the advancing fighters have reached the outskirts of Kabul.
Dostum was a key US ally during the 20 year campaign against the Taliban and famously fought with the Special Forces 'horse soldiers' shortly after 9/11.
...In a statement last night, Biden blamed Donald Trump and the Afghan army for the carnage and said his predecessor cut a deal that left the warlords 'in the strongest position militarily since 2001'.
He said: One more year, or five more years, of US military presence would not have made a difference if the Afghan military cannot or will not hold its own country.

Pray for our troops. They are being placed in harms way when Biden could avoided all of this. Pray that their blood is not on Biden's hands and that God delivers them from this Muslim infested hellhole.
NOT what Biden was saying last month.
great assessment. you nailed it.
they’ve got airpower now:

for $88 Billion we got 1 months worth of a collapsing Afghan army. How’s that for ROI.
keep in mind that any US civilians in Afghanistan
are there only for the money
“The Taliban is not the North Vietnamese Army. They’re not remotely comparable in terms of capability. There’s going to be no circumstances where you’re going to see people being lifted off the roof of an embassy in the United States from Afghanistan.” — Joe Biden, quoted in The Hill, 8/13/21

This nutso operation has nothing to do with Bush or Barry.
President Trump had it under control.
Dementia Joe has now endangered the life of everyone.
They are there for the expertise.
The money follows that. If you don’t have a clue what the military needs, I doubt you are there.
The glaring difference....the south Vietnamese tried to fight. The Afghani’s gave up in huge numbers before any fighting. Heck, many (most?) are either sympathetic or supporters of the Taliban anyway. They were just all too happy to take the American tax dollars to pretend to care about their 7th century “country.”
Nice find!
3,000 American dead , 20,000 wounded , 2.5 trillion spent , 90 billion given to the Afghan military only to lose the entire country in less than 600 hours .. Well done General Mark Milley
I am sure glad I paid taxes to buy a gold tea set for an Afghani warlord.
Wonder if dementia in chief and his woke generals have figured out how many troops will be required to evacuate the 5000 he just sent.
i saw a pic of the taliban posing with US SCAN/EAGLE DRONES...brand new in the crates....4 million dollars a pop....you know the chinese and the russians cant wait to get their hands on those babies. This is the worst military debacle in US history...milley..biden..all of em ..just resign. Their legacies are destroyed...
Good point/question!
I was just a teenager at the time, but Vietnam was not like Afghanistan, in that we were just pulling out of the southern portion of Vietnam.
We basically held Afghanistan completely.
The taliban had a plan, and executed it.
They were basically out of public view until we stood down, then they just marched on in.
Sad so many did not see the possibility.
Oh geeze!! Just invite them to the WH for dinner, why don’t cha??
Carter redux.
Next up : Neville Chamberlain.
I have been praying. Still up and praying.
Thanks for keeping that out there.
