Strike Three: The victims are all either very old or deceased. How much restitution can you pump out of Poland at this late date before it just becomes about the money. Strike Four: Money is just a pay-off, it's not "honoring" the memory of the Holocaust. More than one of my teachers in Yeshiva had numbers on their arms. It’s important to understand the victims were primarily Jewish given that was the justifying trait for mass murder, but those murdered were in fact humans... Judaism survived unscathed.

Although not all of Europe's atrocities were committed by ethnic Germans and Austrians Hitler was ultimately responsible for all the atrocities committed in Poland,France and elsewhere.

I don't understand why the Polish Government is making these payments anyway. Poland disappeared during the War. About half was governed as part of Germany proper. The other part was government by the General Government, a German puppet that was supposed to fade out of existence once all its Slavs had been worked to death.

The Polish Government in exile fled to London. It's military arm was the Polish Home Army, which resisted the Nazis and lead the Warsaw Rebellion. But, Stalin never allowed them to govern in Poland again.
