The speed of the Taliban’s advance across Afghanistan in the past few weeks left US veterans who served in America’s longest war “stunned and dismayed.” The withdrawal was “a betrayal of American and international forces, said Army Staff Sgt. Seamus Fennessy

They want Islam.
And until now they’d take money, food and shelter from the infidels while Afghan women practiced jihad by popping out as many jihadi’s s they could.
Why aren’t the afghani’s fighting back?
with what?
Are the Taliban’s forces that strong or is it just that the Afghanis would rather acquiesce?
they have Iranian weapons.
Served from ‘66 to ‘69. Didn’t go to Nam but had lots of buddies that did. The loss of life and mental stability was a huge price to pay. World War I & II veterans got to come home to Victory. Nam, Korea and Middle East veterans get to get the Liberal tag as losers. Politicians lose wars. Our Military could kick anyone’s butt, but our politicians are too busy kissing said member to be effective.
Afghanistan becomes, once again, the center of terrorist training. Bin Laden took advantage of the Taliban 25 years ago. SSDD
Sorry for your loss.
Trump was going to do the same thing
Yes, as the Taliban advances, we know where they are and should be bombing them off the planet.
I might offend some folks here, but for the life of me I can't imagine why any right-thinking person would volunteer to serve in the military of such a corrupt, dysfunctional country as ours.
From my profile page:
I voted for Donald Trump because I was tired of draft-dodging Ivy League globalist pr!cks running this nation’s foreign policy.
The United States should be isolationist by nature and interventionist in rare, exceptional cases. That's the only legitimate political stature for a country that is supposed to be built on the idea of limited government. A government that pisses away thousands of lives and trillions of dollars on military campaigns in Islamic sh!t-holes halfway around the world while facilitating an invasion of Third World peasants here at home has no moral claim on any loyalty from its citizens anymore.
The way to have preserve Afghanistan had to begin at the beginning, with a US imposed “MacArthur Constitution” on them.
Seal the border with Pakistan. It is a huge border, but only has a limited number of mountain passes. The vast majority of fighters throughout the war came from Pakistan madrassas.
Take all of the orphans in that nation, of which there are huge numbers, put them in a very large boarding school, and raise them with secular western teachers, to become the next generation of patriotic Afghan civilian and military leaders.
Most of the adult males were unemployed, so put them in enormous public works projects. The women back home would run their villages, and have their men’s pay delivered to them. Their national prevailing wage was tiny, so this would only cost, nationwide, about a billion dollars a year.
Issue biometric ID cards with a person’s photo on the front and all relevant information encrypted in dot matrix on the back. They would need the card for any food/fuel/pay/other rationing and to verify their vote.
Any adult found without their ID would be detained until their identity could be determined.
The government would be run by Americans, under a Common Law legal system, and would only be turned over to Afghans after they had been tutored and performed their job under supervision.
Not so good at English word usage.
If a Soldier did his duty, than then he has nothing to be ashamed of.
If the generals didn’t do their duty, than then they need to be disciplined.
If our government employees didn’t do their duty, than then they should be fired.
If our politicians didn’t do their duty, than then they should be hung.
If the American people didn’t do their duty, than then THEY should be ashamed.
“Another 20 years — to flatten the curve.”
Or 20 days of wall to wall carpet bombing to flatten the country.
We all feel bad and support our troops it’s just those who make the decision to get into these quagmires without looking at the human cost we have a problem with.
Freedom is very costly. Many simply do not want to do what it takes to pay the steep price.
Last I heard-—Biden & Pelosi still have NOT reimbursed states for the National Guard troops that occupied DC for months on end.
Those same sentiments apply to the thousands invading our southern border-—
FIGHT for your OWN country & clean it up.
They will more than likely be beheaded. The Taliban are brutally inhuman.
Taliban's going to either kill them or enslave them. We'd be doing them a favor.
Start with that big black structure they value.
Bomb it all.
