The speed of the Taliban’s advance across Afghanistan in the past few weeks left US veterans who served in America’s longest war “stunned and dismayed.” The withdrawal was “a betrayal of American and international forces, said Army Staff Sgt. Seamus Fennessy

We’ve got far too many of those kind here, too.
Everyone has their duty to do in a war.
If a Soldier did his duty, than he has nothing to be ashamed of.
If the generals didn’t do their duty, than they need to be disciplined.
If our government employees didn’t do their duty, than they should be fired.
If our politicians didn’t do their duty, than they should be hung.
If the American people didn’t do their duty, than THEY should be ashamed.
I saw an interview with a woman hiding out in Kabul. Says all the women are frightened, knowing the Taliban will force them to marry Taliban fighters, if they aren’t killed first.
Good question.
Soldiers spent 20 years training them....Where did that training go?????
That is a very good question. We worked for 20 years to allow the Afghan people to get control over their country but they would not do it. It all comes down to their religion. The talibans are fanatical and vicious. They are to be destroyed or feared. They have not been destroyed. They remind me of the progressives who in this country. They are fanatical and vicious.
This is why the Founding Fathers warned of “nation building”. All that happens is Americans get killed and taxed to spend money on foreign nations that will not fight for themselves. The nation then falls and all that sacrifice was for nothing.
They had 20 years on our dime to fix it. Too bad, so sad.

Those 60 woman won’t sty in the country and likely already out...or soon to be. This is the hand over to the Taliban of Afghanistan by Joe Biden and his administration. “Let’s make a Deal”....in action.
Biden needs a whole lot of money to get his green agenda and others going....cutting out military expenses is no skin off their noses.
Because, by and large the taliban have the support of the people. The us backed the afghan deep state. The afghan people don’t like rainbow flags and us democracy. Afghanistan is in reversion to the mean while being televised.
I’m glad to see that you read my post and then thought about it.
They had been doing the fighting under their own commands for several years. Saw the casualties over a 2 year period. Around 1000 Kia/WIA month after month.
Once we started the pull out they must have felt the end inevitable. What I cannot believe is why the air cover was pulled. Anything would have provided them with courage.
My Nephew was killed in Fallujah, WHY?
Marine Lieutenant should Never have been there in the first place, for what?
To fight for people who could care less?
Yup. Possibly ‘dejected’ would fit but it’s more than that. I’ve been out over 50 years and once again have that nagging feeling of betrayal. I’m crushed when I see the youngsters maimed over the years for what? SITREP? Sad friggin’ results for those that stood up.
Once again the troops have been failed. At least they were not subjected to anti war assclowns from the ‘60’s-70’s.
Yup. Just like Vietnam. We shoulda employed my emBASEeee strategee... from my home page
I have been advocating for several years a policy I call ‘embaseees’. Embassy + AirBase —> EmBASEeees. We go into a terrorist country, clear out their taliban equivalent, then withdraw to very large Embassies, perhaps 3 of them. Have them big enough to encompass a military airbase where we can use it for decades on end to conduct anti-terrorism operations. As long as the ‘host’ country aint killing Americans then we let them have self-sovereignty. Kind of like how we operated in the Phillipines for decades. We could even have an intermediate zone that we patrol but it would be autonomous. Let them have their taste of freedom. A referendum every 10 years to see how large the boundaries of the intermediate autonomous zone should be.
