COVID-19 has been debilitatingly boring for newborns, disturbing new research has found.
Scientists have discovered that the coronavirus pandemic significantly impacted the intelligence of children born during it: Living the entirety of their lives in lockdown has seriously stunted their cognitive development.
Researchers analyzed the cognitive performances of 672 children born in Rhode Island, 188 of them born well into the pandemic (after July 2020), 308 born before it (prior to January 2019) and 176 of them born during its beginning stage (between January 2019 and March 2020). They found that children born during the pandemic have pronouncedly lower IQs than those born before it.
“It’s not subtle by any stretch,” lead study author and Brown University associate professor of pediatric research Sean Deoni told the Guardian of the trend. “You don’t typically see things like that, outside of major cognitive disorders.”

The physical reaction is the result of their cognitive processing. If you take your baby in for a physical, your doctor will be checking for his development in terms of his physical activities and responses to stimuli.

I worked with mentally handicapped adults, and we had those with organic causes (brain damage, syndromes, etc.) and a good number who had what was called “cultural deprivation” and functioned as retarded although there was nothing wrong with them. But they had been neglected, never spoken to and thus didn’t process or produce speak very well, or even abused, such as being abandoned, locked in rooms, etc. The effects of infant deprivation of stimuli lasted a lifetime and were irreversible.

It’s not fake news. Essentially, these infants are almost feral children, brought up isolated from human contact and stimuli such as human speech, human movement, etc., not to mention human affection.
The article notes that the effect was most severe among lower income children, who are sometimes culturally deprived anyway, even without being locked in their homes and kept away from normal human contact.
At what age can you test IQ?

Try reading the article. This is absolutely a fact. The isolation led to a 20% IQ difference with those born outside of the lockdown period.
Infants learn everything, including how to walk upright and use speech instead of grunts, from people around them. These children were isolated and in many cases didn’t even have parents around them. The study points out that in the case of lower income people, who suffered the most, their parents were often essential workers who left them, sometimes alone, sometimes with an elderly or uninterested relative. The normal coming and going of people, school or childcare was forbidden by our masters, cutting at the very roots of socialization and learning.
