Biden administration launches plans to combat inflation

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — The White House is remaining optimistic and Republicans are sounding the alarm after U.S. consumer prices rose yet again in July, according to federal data.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says the consumer price index for all urban consumers has increased 5.4% over the last year and inflation was up for the third month in a row.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday announce that his administration is taking new steps to lower prices at the pump and the grocery store. Biden said his plan will “crack down on what some major players are doing in the economy that are keeping prices higher than they need be” and “put more money in your pocket.”

One aspect of the inflation, he said, is supply chain bottlenecks. He said he’s working to fix that.

“Bringing together port operators, shipping lines and the labor unions … to speed up the ports’ operation,” he said.

Just change how you count inflation again. It worked last time when they removed food and energy.

Artificial shortages caused by the lack of hiring = inflation.

If employers would get off their greedy butts and hire at the going wage rate we would have supplies. F all parties involved.

PS: YOU DON'T NEED PORTS IF YOU MAKE THINGS DOMESTICALLY!!!

Sounds like another Windfall Profits Tax is on the menu.

AC, One more thing.

You "business" types have no problem with government manipulating wages down with hundreds of thousands of annual work visas and massive amounts of LEGAL immigration but when they do the opposite like subsidize ridiculous unemployment YOU HAVE F--ING TANTRUM. LOL!!!

People love any excuse to use the word bolt to say ran away but bolt means to move suddenly and horses getting out of the barn just walk through an open door. If you were walking up to a horse that was calmly standing a d letting you approach but then suddenly ran away, that would be bolted. Nothing personal just trying to protect the language.

What the hell are you talking about? This nation was originally built around thriving ports that existed long before the U.S. was even a country.

BS. Before WWII only 1.5% of GDP were imports. 2% exports. You Free Traitors™ and gloBULLists did a heck of a number on the US economy. You F'd it up royally. I am tired of your BS lies and crapola.

I have no idea what you’re even trying to say. I would be perfectly fine if we stopped all immigration indefinitely and sent every H-1B visa holder back home.

That would bring a whole different set of challenges, but I’m ready to deal with them.

What was funny was that they thought common people could have any effect on inflation. What can we do, refuse to pay for food or gas? I guess stop consuming? Inflation is a product of government not people. Asking people to stop it is like asking people to control global warming.

In the years leading up to WW2, most Americans lived in either crowded urban dumps or in “Little House on the Prairie.” Sure — let’s go back to that standard of living while we still have the TV reruns to remind us how it was done.

Go back and do the research on how this country grew from its infancy. Pick a random census year any time from 1790 to the mid-1800s and check out a list of the ten largest cities in the U.S. that year. You’ll notice almost every one of them has one thing in common: they were major port cities.

Everything the media says is an inversion of reality.

What do you think is going to happen to the prices of goods and services when people are taxed by the mile.

Yeah that was just passed in the “infrastructure” bill.

BS.

I love this quote

"Buy our cheap, foreign products, do it now. You like free enterprise, don’t you? What’s more free than your boys and girls in the Navy guarding Chinese ships shipping Chinese products from Chinese companies to run-down American towns that were once industrial hubs?”

So true.
