Mississippi and Arkansas face shortages of available intensive care beds as the delta variant sparks yet another surge in coronavirus cases around the country.
Only six ICU beds for severely ill patients were available across all of Mississippi as of Wednesday morning, said Dr. Jonathan Wilson, chief administrative officer at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Health officials are coordinating to transfer patients when possible to alleviate some of the strain on hospitals. Intensive care patients include not only those afflicted with Covid-19 but also those who suffer from traditional health issues, such as heart attacks and strokes.
“We are at the cusp of this. We know that we aren’t at the crest of this wave,” Wilson said Wednesday. “It’s bad, but it’s probably going to get a little worse.”

Just quoting bed numbers is useless. How many are gravely ill? How many deaths? At least the Israelis are being intellectually honest. This is just fearmongering without some sort of reliable indicator.
The “vaccines” are working. They are a cure for Wuhan flu hysteria, not a vaccine for the flu. Hysteria sufferers who get the vaccine overcome their hysteria and drop their precautions thus get the flu and help reach herd immunity. The success of the vaccinations is measured by the number of vaccinated who get the flu.
Anybody that still falls for this propaganda has got a few screws loose. Are they tired of the lies yet? (He asks rhetorically).
There must be bodies everywhere.

BUT WAIT! They said the same thing about Missouri and had to retract. The beds WERE FULL, But COVID had nothing to do with it!!
Illegals all of them.
How many are damned illegal alien parasites?
Once again we need local Freepers to confirm these claims because nobody should ever simply believe any claims made by any of the government propaganda rags like this. Independent verification is always needed when this kind of claim is made.
“Intensive care patients include not only those afflicted with Covid-19 but also those who suffer from traditional health issues, such as heart attacks and strokes.”
So what’s the breakdown? Is it a Covid crisis or traditional health issue crisis? Or is it a crisis of too few ICU beds?
The business sense to this...if you only show 6 open beds...some President/Senator/House Member will cry a river over the shame, and send you $2-million to buy 25 beds. Once they arrive....you cart ten off to some warehouse and sell off to the black market.
It doesn’t matter. The hospitals are being absolutely deluged with cash from the federal government for COVID reporting. There are dozens of health systems across the country that are expanding rapidly with money from the federal government. I know of 3 major health systems in Florida that bumped up their timelines for massive expansions to take advantage of federal cash for reporting COVID infections. It’s a disgusting scheme.
Should’ve spent that fed covid $ beefing up your hospitals.
There was an article about this yesterday on Arkansas which said they had about a thousand beds total in the state. I checked census so with a pop of about 3 mill gives them a 0.03% per capita bed count.
I contrasted Virginia which has about 15k beds and a pop of 8.5 mil for a 0.17% rate - about 6 times greater. Their health dept website also indicates they have a “surge” capacity of up to 20k beds.
Maybe they should stop diverting tax money to their friends who donate to their campaigns and we’d actually be in good shape.
How many of the hospitalized are illegal aliens who were bused into MS and AR?
This is why O’Biden has opened the borders, import dependent voters and to infect those who oppose him and his vermin.
Agree
Sorry, but the link was to something that had NBC and News closely associated.
There is no such thing as news (in the sense that we associate with it) connected with any of the alphabet networks.
