Biden administration moves to repeal Trump rule creating faster dishwashers
Washington Examiner ^ | 03 Aug 2021 | Josh Siegel, Energy and Environment Reporter

The Department of Energy issued a proposal on Tuesday to repeal a Trump administration rule creating a new class of dishwashers that wash and dry in an hour.

The Trump administration’s rule established a separate product class for dishwashers that clean and dry dishes within one hour, an action that excluded those appliances from current energy and water conservation standards. It had acted in response to a petition filed by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a free market think tank....

...The Biden administration’s Energy Department has already moved to overturn a Trump administration change to the definition of a showerhead meant to let more water flow.

Now, the Energy Department is arguing the Trump administration didn’t follow a law requiring an analysis of whether the rule changes to dishwashers were designed to achieve the best efficiency improvement that’s technologically feasible and economically justified....

The job of government is, apparently, to make life less good for taxpayers.

"The Department of Energy issued a proposal on Tuesday to repeal a Trump administration rule..."

...makes sense to use more electricity and water doesn't it? It is more than scary knowing there are people running our government like Biden and his administration.

I've got a Bosch dishwasher that washes and dries in an hour. Of course I use a phosphate-based detergent. I could be environmentally responsible and use something government approved, but then my dishes wouldn't get clean, which is, after all, the point of a dishwasher.

What’s even scarier are our fellow Americans who vote dems into office.

I’m a systems engineer working in the dishwasher product line at a major appliance company. We regularly receive complaints from the field regarding the cycle times. Not much we can do about it because of DOE regulations. We include various “Express” cycles that attempt to keep the cycle about an hour but they don’t wash and dry worth a crap.

Best wash performance options is Auto Cycle + Wash Temp Boost + Heated Dry.

The Dems have already solved this problem. There are millions of short POCs who can wash dishes as fast as they need to to support their masters and vote Democrat.

Because it saves so much energy to give dishes a hand rinse (and maybe a quick wipe with a sponge for the heavier stains), run them through two cycles on the dishwasher with a little TSP added to the detergent.

Just ,ike the low flow toilets that need to be flished twice.

Is there such a law? Did Congress pass it, and did a President sign it?

Our dishwasher broke down several years ago and I don’t miss it. I grew up working in restaurants and am a pretty good “chief cook and bottle-washer”. I almost never used the “heated dry” (unless we had a lot of company and needed to cycle out several loads in short amount of time).

Anyway, there’s something about doing the dishes by hand. Get the system going, whistle while you work sort of thing.

Even at family get-togethers it was a bit of social time when everybody pitched in to get the place tidied up.

Now, do that with the PM2.5 rules at the EPA.
Or, Greenhouse Gas rules.

Our dishwasher died after a lightning storm. We’re empty nesters now and I’ve decided not to bother replacing it.

We use paper plates for snacks and sandwiches and such. We just wash the dishes as we use them and it’s no chore at all.

From whom do you purchase trisodium phosphate?

We use Normal Cycle+Sanitary Rinse+High Heat Dry. Results in a 3:46 total time. I don’t know, it may be a 2:46 total time...as I now just “Set it & forget it”. I DO scan the last 2 digits for the “:46” because, if they aren’t, the settings have been altered by someone (the wife unit)...and I have to reset to the above sequence. Honestly think it’s 3:46.

If we need something clean in a hurry...we do it by hand. LOL...First World problems.

One of these days I’m going to get around to removing the old dishwasher and building some shelves in its place. As of now it’s kind of a storage rack for miscellaneous kitchen utensils we rarely use but are loath to part with.

I suggested to my wife that we get 2 dishwashers.

The plan is to alternate between clean and dirty dishes. You fill the first dishwasher full of dirty dishes then run the cycle. You then start filling the second dishwasher with dirty dishes until it is full then start the cycle. Just keep switching between the dishwashers. You never have to bother taking dishes out and putting them in the cabinet.

For some reason she doesn’t like this idea. I think it is genius.

Not to worry. When the Biden Green deal is in effect power will be restricted and more efficient machines will be mandatory.

You should be able to find trisodium phosphate (TSP) in the paint department at most hardware stores, or you can get it on Amazon. Check the label to see whether it’s fake TSP, described in the following excerpt from familyhandyman.com:

“Phosphate-free TSP is oddly named. The main ingredient in TSP is phosphate, but this product contains no phosphate. It has sodium sesquicarbonate, similar to baking soda, as the main ingredient (sodium sesquicarbonate makes up about 20% of actual TSP). This phosphate-free product doesn’t cut grease as well as traditional TSP, but it doesn’t have the same negative environmental impact either.”
