As I understand it, with the “vaccine”, when you actually get COVID, you will be less sick. Which is nice for you but doesn’t help other people.
Mandating the “vaccine” because we need to “protect others” is just illogical. That’s not the benefit of this medicine.

The hospitals there have had more than a year to prepare for any “surge.”

This article is very misleading. Yes, the vaccine protects you SUBSTANTIALLY but not perfectly. The vaccine also SUBSTANTIALLY but not perfectly reduces the capability of an infected vaccinated person to infect others compared to an infected non-vaccinated person.
This is simply more of the never ending flow of FEAR PORN meant to hello support the government overlords continuation of their tyrannical controls.
I subscribe to this excellent site. I find this article confusing and sent a link to my friend, a pharmaceutical company exec and asked her to tell me what it really means.
BTW, I’m waiting for Novavax. My HMO will offer it 30 days after it’s released and they have time to see how safe it is.

Translation. These vaccines are not working to provide a durable immunity that breaks viral transmission. They are perhaps, instead, acting as viral amplifiers thru ADE.
This sounds self contradictory. I have seen reports that the previously infected and recovered enjoy greater resistance to Delta.
So, herd immunity is highly relevant. We would be better off against new strains relying on natural immunity than this spike-only vaccine.
If we did not want the deaths associated with natural immunity, we should develop a full dead or attenuated virus vaccine. This would also address any issues which may arise from mRNA spikes appearing throughout the body.
Scary.

There is absolutely no way to tell, short of draconian monitoring, whether an injection has effectively squelched and defeated the attempted assault of a virus.
I like the concept of the Novavax vaccine. It's closer to a traditional vaccine. Instead of using mRNA to trigger the host to construct the viral spike protein, Novavax has in essence constructed a 'fake' Covid virus consisting of spike proteins they grow and "harvest" externally, which they then attach to a nanoparticle to mimic the appearance of the actual Covid virus. So it amounts to a look-alike "model" of the virus, but without the ability to replicate.
