Many battery operated devices say battery will need a full charge when you get it home. So if sold with battery uncharged, no way to test it at or after the register.

Convenient !!

“these heat transfer receipts (that fade over time) “

THOSE SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.

Why wasn’t this been done a couple of decades ago...

Yup.

We like to complicate things.

Let me ask you this, how much sense does it make, to make the controls of washing and drying machines digital?

Is it the heat, vibration, moisture or lint that makes digital controls vs. mechanical analog controls better?

Speaking about green and environmentalism, how enviro is it when all these new appliances have about a 10 year lifespan, after which you can’t find parts, they are made so you can’t repair them (you have to destroy them to get into them), and the components like compressors have a very limited lifespan breaking after say 2,000 compressor running hours (crap made out of plastic that breaks after a while...). No kidding - I had a 1952 GM/Frigidaire refrigerator running in my hot garage in Texas up until a few years ago. That is about 6 times the lifespan you can expect on one of these new $3,500 refrigerators with an energy star rating and TV in the door. LOL

All power tools will now be hammers.

#3: "Great. Something else to break at an inopportune time."

Bingo. You nailed it (so to speak!).

Yep, out at your hunting cabin, no cell service, no bluetooth, nothing — "Why isn't this new cordless drill working?"

Great. So now our power tools will be spying on us, too.

Home Depot will email your receipt. I really don’t get any spam from them after enabling that.

Internet-of-Things will be here when they can turn off your toaster, refrigerator, other electric appliances for non-compliance but leave your power on.

Good for Home Depot... it’s about time companies started fighting back against criminals...

Unless Home Depot sourced power tools come with a lifetime warranty against failure to turn on, Home Depot will no longer get any business from anyone I know for tools.

Period.

Great. Something else to break at an inopportune time.

Not as bad as a gun that supposed to only operate for the owner, but could be very inconvenient.

...probably difficult to identify the thieves when their customers are required to wear masks...

Lowe's babe told me that the thieves will walk out of the store while flippin' the bird to everyone. Nothing is done about it. Lowe's just eats it.

Let me guess...you live out in the country and don’t have a copier, scanner or camera available. ;)

Why is it unreasonable to expect that the transaction, exchange of monies, involves a receipt that will last more than a few months.

A law should say the receipt must not fade during the i.r.s. hold onto receipts period. I say a minimum of five years.

Fading receipts is nothing but an outfit being too cheap to use a good printing process.

I always wondered why they do not build cycle counters into washers and dryers. You could garner some excellent figures to evaluate durability/reliability.
