GROVE CITY, Ohio (AP) — As soon as it became clear last week that a Texas congressional candidate backed by Donald Trump would be defeated in a special election, the former president's allies quickly shifted their attention to Ohio to ward off another embarrassing loss.

Make America Great Again, a super PAC chaired by Trump's former campaign manager, quietly purchased $300,000 in Ohio television advertising. The buy was intended to provide a late-stage boost to another Trump-backed candidate facing a crowded field of Republicans in a special election on Tuesday.

If this is your district, go vote today!

The Establishment is DESPERATE that Trump's endorsement have little effect, so they can protect worthless politicians like Lisa Murkowski and Liz Cheney.

Trump's pacs raised over $100 million in 2021. The RNC and associated pacs raised about $85 million.

Money and endorsements mean victory. The Establishment likes having that power for itself. But it's being challenged.

Trump’s endorsement can only go so far. In Texas his candidate was outspent, outworked, and out-campaigned and she lost. If the Ohio candidate does the same then they will lose too.

it’s really hard to win these special elections because the Democrat’s professional election machine can focus their attention and concentrate their assets on a small area.

In the general election, they are spread much thinner.

Problem is, vote fraud has taken over

Quite honestly, Trump backed the wrong candidate in TX. She was the wife of the former congressman. Being a wife does not make one qualified to be in congress. This keep it all in the family idea doesn't work with many people. I suspect folks in TX learned their lesson with the Bushes and Clintons. The winner wasn't an anti-Trumper by the way. He worked his butt off and appears to be decent. Time will tell, just like any newly elected congressman.

Additionally, most people do not put a great deal of credence into endorsements. Many do not even know who endorsed who. They are not like FReepers glued to the news all day. With that said, I have no problem with Trump endorsing and funding candidates, he just needs to be more selective. That means he needs some better people around him giving advice. (You know exactly where I can take this, but I won't. There's too much good that Trump has done and I don't want to sound like an anti-Trumper, because I am not.)

So it takes three of these cretins to erect a straw man and knock it down.

Nobody of note ever declared Trump a king maker.

May the most conservative, small-government, immigration-hawk candidates win. I hope Pres. Trump endorses those candidates, but in any case those are the ones we need to prevail.

“She was the wife of the former congressman. Being a wife does not make one qualified to be in congress.”

Agreed. About 30 years ago I got tired of the spouse automatically being promoted to the job.

Democrats are smarter. They don’t run a dozen candidates in a primary election or a general.

They do encourage plenty of Republican candidates for the primaries.

That’s because the Rat party understands party discipline.
They want power first not purity. They’ll get purity later.
Conservatives want purity so getting power is much harder to do.
