Floridians are waiting in line for hours to get tested for COVID-19, as the state grapples with record-breaking case numbers.
The line began forming around 6 a.m. Sunday at a drive-thru coronavirus testing site at Barnett Park — three hours before the Orange County facility opened, Spectrum News reported.
Hundreds of cars wrapped around the site, which has recently had to turn people away before its normal closing time because it’s reached capacity, the outlet reported.
“Constituents are struggling to get in & many can’t wait several hours for a test,” State Rep. Anna Eskamani wrote on Twitter.

I live in central Florida and not hearing any big panic. A few friends had it and one went in yesterday with covid but only needed fluids. Was released this morning.
All in a vain attempt to shut down Florida.

It isn’t going to work. Gottlied said this morning that Florida’s R0-values are already trending down. That’s a VERY good sign. They should see a rapid decline in cases starting in the next few days, or weeks.
Agreed. Lots of fear porn, but I went grocery shopping yesterday and very few masks. I am in a liberal area where masks were 70-80% masked for a few weeks even after the CDC dropped their requirement. Maybe 20% at most last night and that was mostly older people and clearly left wingers who likely never stopped masking for ‘the cause’.
This issue was addressed the day before yesterday on FR. The spike is due to release of data not in real time but after it had been collected over time. Different states release data on their own schedules making comparisons difficult.

Test positivity increased only 2.8 percent (15.3 to 18.1 percent) from last week. Number of cases increased 52 percent.
Number of deaths weekly hasn’t changed much over the last three months.
Yeah I am seeing more masks laying on the ground in the parking lots then on people’s faces. And it’s crazy that they are wearing cloth masks that do nothing but restrict breathing.
The recent purchase by Gates and Soros of the main rapid COVID testing company is interesting. It creates major perverse incentives like diagnosing vaccinated people negative, diagnosing unvaccinated people positive, or even infect people with COVID. How does it create perverse incentives? Bill Gates has controlling interests in most of the Major Vaccine companies.

IOW - the people most at risk from COVID who should be more careful.
I have no problem with those at high risk being overly cautious.
Early on I could not understand why everyone wanted a test. Here in central Alabama, every little town had long lines of cars around the town square. People were getting a swab way up in the nose. They were not sick. I am not getting tested unless I am sick. Crazy.
