National eyes are on the Republican primary Tuesday for the seat of former Rep. Steve Stivers, R.-Ohio.
A week after the candidate he supported in the Texas-6 special election lost in an upset, Donald Trump has weighed in strongly for Ohio Coal Association Chairman Mike Carey in the Republican primary in Ohio's 15th District (Columbus).
His political action committee last week made a whopping $348,000 TV time buy.
But Stivers, who resigned his House seat to become head of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, has strongly endorsed friend and State Sen. Jeff LeRe.
In giving his blessings to LeRe, Stivers cited the legislator’s conservatism and his “law and order” background as a former deputy county sheriff.
In an 11-candidate field that includes Carey and three of LeRe’s fellow state legislators, Stivers’ strong support could pack a particularly hard punch.
“LeRe will win because ‘establishment Republicans’ support him and there is a very crowded field,” said one local GOP activist who requested anonymity, adding that congressmen picked by the Columbus GOP establishment have held the district for all but 2 of the last 55 years.
The same activist added that “Trump is wearing thin here.”
The Carey camp offered a diametrically different portrait of Republican voters.

That way, they can protect Lisa Murkowski and Liz Cheney and the rest.
If this is your district, go vote tomorrow!
‘establishment Republicans’ = Blue Blood Rinos................
Stivers is a Chamber of Cheap Labor Express stooge, that’s where he quit to go to work.
If you want to lose your country, keep voting for Bush League Republicans.
Like Micro Rubio and John Hoeven.
Both voted for amnesty in 2013, both are up in 2022.
Re-elect them at out peril.
A Ttunp enforcement is no guarantee of a win.
This will be interesting. Odds certainly should be in the favor of an established politician in a special off year election over someone with no political experience. The existing politician has a local base to pull from.
Unless said politician has done something to majorly tick off the MAGA folks directly, I would not count on simply A Trump endorsement guaranteeing a win.
Guess we will see soon enough
But yes the media need the narrative to be Trump is irrelevant… otherwise the know folks will continue to refuse to ignore MAGA principles
Predictit currently has Carey at 83%, Ron Hood at 10% & LeRe at 7%
If those numbers are real, going to be VERY entertaining.
And we won’t hear a thing about it. But by God we saw story after story about the race in Texas last week.
We know you are a Val Demmings supporter for Florida senate over Rubio. Don’t need to remind us daily.
No, I want a real Republican that does not want to give the Democrats a permanent majority with amnesty for illegal aliens.
Keep re-electing Amnesty Senators and you will get that permanent Democrat majority you are voting for.
I can’t believe that people have already forgotten that Steve Stivers publicly advocated tying any future stimulus payments to citizen’s vaccine status.
He is a nut job. Jeff LaRe should not have accepted his endorsement.
Trump’s endorsement will only go so far. Unless the candidate he endorses gets out there an works as hard as they can for the seat then there is no guarantee of winning.
I know. It’s just we don’t have anyone that’s running against him yet. If DeSantis did, I’d vote for him in the primary. Of course, he has the governor’s race. Sabatini I’d vote for in a heart beat against Rubio in the primary but he’s running for a new house seat. However, I’m unaware of anyone running against Rubio in the primary at this point at least.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.
In Ohio-15, It’s Trump Vs. Rep. Stivers By Proxy

The strategy is to split the vote with way too many candidates. They did that. Conservatives are too dumb to catch on
