I wonder if it ever crossed her mind that pulling out as she did would cost her way more grief than flubbing a routine or two.
She named herself the greatest of all time - Goat. Obviously, she isn’t. Her over inflated ego and arrogance caused her to quit on her team. She can’t handle mistakes.
Reminds me a bit of the “no mas” episode of Roberto Duran. He never lived that down, and sadly she won’t either.
Interestingly they both had tough childhoods.

And of course the chattering class were flawless when the camera was on them at work when they were 16-24yrs of age. It more likely the only camera on them was a Polaroid instamatic, and by 24 I doubt most commenters had achieved global recognition as being at the top of their field.
But typing from behind their keyboard, in relative obscurity (and maybe in Mom's basement?), they've got it allllll figured out, right?
Yea, she chose this profession and she may have regret later in life over this saga. She's not curing cancer nor going into battle. But she's not self-important like many sports stars or entertainers. Further, she's a zillion times better as a role model for America's youth than the trash pop stars, degenerate politicians, and anyone on MSNBC. And I suspect something else is at play that we are not being told (e.g., maybe she got a booster vaxx and that screwed her up).
I'd rather my daughter examine the achievement of Ms Biles - and even this setback, which is certainly filled with lessons but hardly evidence of her being a "failure" - than focus on typed comments from a bunch of middle-aged dudes who's BMI is likely higher than their IQ. The evidence of cultural dry rot is the latter, not the former.
She’s an athlete who competes in a SPECTATOR SPORT, for heaven’s sake. She’s PAID to PERFORM. Someone in that position should accept public criticism as readily as they accept the public accolades.
Telling us that we can’t criticize her because we aren’t athletes ourselves is like telling us we can’t say a movie sucks because we aren’t actors or movie directors.
AMEN! Folks have no clue the courage and maturity it took to step aside when she had been preparing for this moment all her young life!
My daughter was a gymnast and currently a gymnastics coach….It isnt uncommon that gymnast can get mental blocks but normally they struggle through it. Usually it’s just one event or one skill.
My daughter was shocked and disappointed by Biles quitting…she was melting down in the the US trials if anyone watched them….the writing was on the wall.
I’m defending a principle, which is that the right to criticize - which is pretty important and should never be shut down - works both ways. Glass houses and bricks and all that.

Well, dirty mouth, she did try to do her vault and the results were less than spectacular as she lost orientation in the air. Now run along and play at being a conservative while your filthy mouth exposes what you are.

It seems to me, our media always wants to make excuses for black people. This doesn’t help anybody, especially black people in the long-run.

Well the media sure has framed it as her quitting, that may not be fair to Simone at all. It’s not about her, as much as it is how the media is going about this.
