They had a little bit of bad luck with a drumbeat of political correctness negativity ... and now their viewers are down about 60 percent ... but it's not their fault ... so don't any of you right wing nuts go out and gloat over their misfortune !!

NBC is Comcast — or, Con-Cast as Trump described the bastards.

If you want to make a difference in this world, watch the Olympics as you normally would and make note of the advertisers. If a commercial advertises a product or service you normally spend money on, take a break from that product for a few months. If enough people do that, the advertisers will feel it.

Tokyo Olympics will be 'profitable' despite massive viewership drop

So every other show for the next two years will bear the accounting burden of the free make-up commercials used to refund advertisers for below guaranteed ratings.

I have not watched a second of the Olympics. I am not boycotting. I just have zero interest for the first time in my life.

NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell huh?
Your network is a biased rag pal.
So very glad you are taking a bath in regards the poor viewership of the Olympics.
Keep backing Dementia Joe a-hole.

All these major productions (Olympics, sport, Academy Awards, etc,) that have any wokeness are bombing out badly in viewership. You would think they would get a clue.

You couldn’t pay me to watch this farce.

Simone Biles. What a disgrace. A wuss. Shame on her.

Some of you might remember Shun Fujimoto (Japan) from the 1976 Olympics.

He shattered his kneecap in the opening floor exercises and kept it to himself. He performed the rest of the Olympics in unspeakable pain, culminating in his unforgettable rings routine where he scored a 9.7 helping Japan win the Gold.

Now that’s an athlete. That’s a real Olympian.

You can read more about him here: t.ly/GFZj

What’s happened to America?

Through five days of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, NBC's average primetime audience of 15.2 million viewers is down 47% from Rio in 2016 and 57% from London in 2012. The opening ceremony, delayed a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, drew 16.7 million viewers for NBC on Friday, the smallest audience for the network broadcast since the 1988 Seoul Games.

Excellent news!

“We had a little bit of bad luck and this drumbeat of negativity,” Shell said

Now you know how President Trump felt like when NBC bombarded him with hate with 100% anti Trump propaganda.
Suck on it NBC and die. Where are all them 80 million who NBC claims "voted for Dementia Joe" at?.
Chuckle.

I have not watch a second (in my own house) of the Olympics since 1992. They are boring.

Earlier this week, Outkick founder Clay Travis told Fox News that a variety of issues are plaguing the Tokyo games.
---SNIP---
"I think that an attack of America, an attack on American exceptionalism by the media, which is real, has certainly undercut a lot of Americans' joy and excitement in celebrating America," Travis said.

Travis gets it. Suck this lemon, NBC.

The lower viewership should have been factored into the bids for this event to begin with, so it would be expected to make a profit. Lower US ratings for an Olympics hosted in Asia (12 hour time difference??) is pretty common knowledge.

The negative publicity about the gymnast would be a surprise, though, and could have an impact on the final numbers.

I saved the “Archery” competitions on my TV so I could watch with the ability to forward past the commercials.

NBC is apparently spilt screening events with commercials playing on one side while events show on the other.

I suspect that they have doubled the number of commercials (corporate sponsors) so it is possible that they’re doing ok financially.

I believe that the only reason Tokyo is having the Olympics is so that they can recoup some of the money they’ve spent on the whole thing.
