Last week we learned that — according to a group of Democratic senators — newly released materials show the FBI failed to fully investigate sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he was nominated to the court in 2018.
In response, the FBI said it had received more than 4,500 tips on Kavanaugh, providing what it deemed to be relevant ones to former President Trump’s White House team.
Almost immediately upon learning the news, social media was abuzz with calls for Justice Kavanaugh’s impeachment.
Public outrage aside, the bar to impeach a sitting Supreme Court justice is significantly higher than most people would imagine. It simply isn’t a realistic path for those seeking to remove Justice Kavanaugh from the nation’s highest court.
Only one justice has ever been impeached. In 1805, Justice Samuel Chase was impeached by the House of Representatives but later acquitted by the Senate.
But what about the threat of impeachment? Justice Abe Fortas resigned in 1969 before he could be impeached for taking $20,000 a year for life from the family of a Wall Street executive who was under investigation for securities violations.
Could the threat of impeachment work here? Maybe, but probably not.

the official background check is not a criminal matter and the rules for OPM or FBI are to check what has happened since his last check, not using the “go back machine” for childhood indiscretions. I worked for the Bureau of Prisons and OPM background checks are done every 5 years, Judge Kavanaugh was a District court Judge for 12 years so any check was done back to his previous check. 4500 tips and the best the opposition could come up with was maybe something almost happened on an unknown date at an unknown party that may have been disturbing to a tween at a place she shouldn’t have been.
Rubbish. Kavanaugh is a done deal.
Which is strange because Kavanaugh is basically a clone of either John Roberts or Anthony Kennedy.
it’s all intended to scare Kavanaugh into ruling the way the left wants him to rule. The left has already threatened the court with packing and this is just another form of intimidation.

There is much thought that SCOTUS could not take the election fraud cases as foreign governments were involved along with US citizen traitors, and thus it was an act of war, which is beyond the scope of the courts. Plus some of the evidence would be classifed, which the justices do not have clearance for.
FR used to have more rational thought and discussion. tsk tsk. It’s really unpleasant what FR has turned into.
Why in the heck would they want to remove Kavanaugh? He turned out to be their best friend.
The only issue in front of the Supreme Court concerning the election was whether or not the legislatures of the states legally changed the rules. The words could not be any clearer and they were put there for a reason by brilliant men.
That is the TRUTH.
