,,,,,McCallum, who was the first US athlete to compete on the uneven bars in the minutes after Biles told her teammates that she was pulling out of the final, confessed that she was left 'on the verge of tears' by the news - as well as the added pressure that was placed on her and the other two remaining Team USA athletes as a result.
'It was a lot of pressure, my heart was beating about a million miles an hour and I was on the verge of tears,' the gymnast shared. 'I just knew I had to do my gymnastics, nothing more, nothing less.'
In Biles' absence, two of her teammates were forced to step in and take her place in the uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise events, with Chiles taking on the first two, while Sunisa Lee, 18, filled her spot on the floor....
Biles' decision not to defend her Olympic all-around title in Thursday's final was announced on Wednesday morning in a statement shared by USA Gymnastics - however the gymnast has not yet revealed whether she plans to compete in the other four individual finals that she qualified for.

Meanwhile, the other athletes get no attention at all.
Greatest Goat ever!
Simone is the antithesis of the Olympic spirit.
When the going got tough, Simone melted away.
To actually sew GOAT on her outfit to begin with was an outrageous act of hubris that would only have been justified if she didn't quit and swept gold in her event both individual and team.
We’ve been living in G for quite some time. Just getting worse with each passing day.
“Slouching Towards Gomorrah”
I think that was Bork, not Bennett.
“She is not a role model. She demonstrates selfishness.”
Yes. Selfishness to the Nth degree.
“I really feel she let her team mates down big time;”
I sympathize with Simone but her image is tarnished. I’ll bet she had some big media deals (commercials, etc.) that will fall through.
Guarantee this is a subtle BLM protest-dont compete for USA and tank the results-follow the money
Biles should leave now, go home and start lining up appearances on various talk shows to say how brave she was for quitting.
Only she knows what that pressure feels like. I respect her choice on whether or not to compete at this time.
So much has gone wrong with this years Olympics that she’s probably right about feeling overwhelmed this time.
She has already proven herself as top notch.
I believe Simone made the correct decision.
After flubbing the first event, pulling out of a skill and stumbling on the landing, Simone probably realized that the team’s best chance of medaling would be for her to withdraw. She demonstrated confidence in her teammates, one of whom said: “I knew in my body that I could pull out everything I had. I did have to fill some humungous shoes but I did it for a reason, I did it for her. And she was there with us the whole time.”
her life drama is going to be interesting going forward ..
Baloney!!! Look what Biles replacement did - https://www.facebook.com/nbcolympics/videos/289266519634718
She’s a no good quitter!
Shes down, keep kicking.
I am of the opinion that if there are others who can “take her slot” and can compete in her place, then she did the right thing by withdrawing. Better that she step aside and let others have their chance at the Olympics than for her to participate knowing that she will not succeed.
Down? You need glasses and a hearing aid. She’s getting more attention than ever and being called “brave”.
You so concerned about her lesser know teammates or not? They and their Olympic dreams took a gut punch because of her jackassery.
Dang,I am missing all the drama.
Which turns out to be the truth, since Sunisa Lee, another American, won the women's all-around gymnastics gold. Everyone expected Biles to win it before she dropped out, but at least an American DID get it.
We’ve untrained mental toughness, and the kids are showing it. Prov 13:24 (and surrounding verses): He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
