Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) announced Wednesday that she would not support the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion budget bill after Senate Republicans and Democrats secured a deal for her bipartisan infrastructure bill.
Sinema told Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) that she does not support such an expensive infrastructure bill. In comparison, her and Republicans’ infrastructure bill costs $1.2 trillion.
“I have also made clear that while I will support beginning this process, I do not support a bill that costs $3.5 trillion — and in the coming months, I will work in good faith to develop this legislation with my colleagues and the administration to strengthen Arizona’s economy and help Arizona’s everyday families get ahead,” Sinema said in a statement.
Sinema’s statement throws off the delicate balance between the two infrastructure bills; many thought that securing Democrat support for the bipartisan bill would also secure her and Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) support the multi-trillion dollar bill, which focuses more on social spending, climate change carveouts, and leftist provisions.
Schumer said Wednesday morning that the Senate could vote to advance the bipartisan infrastructure bill as soon as Wednesday night.

“While bringing both parties together can seem impossible these days, Arizonans elected me to do the hard work,” she said. “Our historic legislation would make the strongest investment in America’s critical infrastructure in a century — creating Arizona jobs, expanding economic opportunities for our state, securing our water future, and protecting our communities from wildfires.”

She is lying.
Never, ever trust a Democrat.
Or any politician on an amorphous “don’t support”.
Hell, don’t trust them at all.
On that thread I posted this...
How did 1.2 bump up to 3.5 Trillion in a matter of hours?
Is Senema overestimating? Was 1.2 Trillion way too low of an estimated cost.
PJ said it’s two different bills.
Two different bills.
I guess so.
On the other thread - PJ just explained it to me
I wish I could care about all of the money created out of thin air, and all of the spending that continues to go on, on both sides of the aisle.
Thinking about it makes me heartsick, so I just keep keeping on with prepping plans and such and wait for the eventual implosion of our economy and the final demise of America.
It’s going to be SPECTACULAR. :(
Also - we’ll be taking the rest of the world down with us. Don’t doubt that for a second.
I know you know this stuff. Just ranting. :)
Just send every American $15,000 and let them build their own infrastructure.
I hope Schumer is happy when his constituents in New York have to fork out $150 for a loaf of bread and there’s chaos in the streets. When this money-printing bubble bursts, it’s gonna get real ugly fast.
Commie-say-what?
Looks like Ted has gained an extra chin since becoming a Senator.
How is it that Sinema is better than Ditch?
Pelosi insists the 1.2T won’t pass the house unless the 3.5T is agreed, so it’s good news in that probably nothing will get done, hopefully not until Jan. ‘23.
She’ll likely cave though, once she realizes Sinema is one of many that will not allow the budget buster to see daylight.
I’m beginning to like her …
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
@AOC
Good luck tanking your own party’s investment on childcare, climate action, and infrastructure while presuming you’ll survive a 3 vote House margin - especially after choosing to exclude members of color from negotiations and calling that a “bipartisan accomplishment.”
Exactly. She’s been compared to War Loser John McCain as the new “maverick” from AZ. In this case, let her stab the Rat Traitors in the back for once in my lifetime.
