A Springfield hospital announced Tuesday that it expanded its morgue capacity amid an increase in COVID-19 deaths, while the Kansas City mayor announced he would reinstate a mask mandate for indoor spaces.

Missouri has the nation’s fourth-worst COVID-19 diagnosis rate over the past week, with one in every 360 people diagnosed with COVID-19. Its seven-day rolling average of daily deaths has nearly doubled over the past two weeks, according to data from John Hopkins.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas tweeted on Tuesday evening that he would provide details Wednesday morning on his plans to return Kansas City to a mask mandate based upon national and regional health guidance and discussion with other city leaders.

Okay here's the deal. From the article:

A Springfield hospital announced Tuesday that it expanded its morgue capacity amid an increase in COVID-19 deaths,

AMID....not BECAUSE of....

CoxHealth brought in temporary cooling equipment because 75 patients died this month — 19 just since Friday — at its hospital in Springfield and other system hospitals in the region, CEO Steve Edwards said at a news conference.

It's very hot and humid right now. People are DYING from the heat. But it appears as if they are conflating or writing this story to make it seem as is the morgue space is needed for covid deaths. It's not. Deaths are up because old people die in the heat.

Did you notice that The Media Cone of Silence has dropped over Indonesia and its use of Ivermectin as a therapeutic?

It's been 3 weeks or so now. They did some hitpieces about a week ago, but crickets since then...

64 deaths yesterday. https://usafacts.org/visualizations/coronavirus-covid-19-spread-map/state/missouri. (I haven’t vetted this website)

Hospitalizations look like they’re increasing quickly.

I do not see a big death rate jump on worldometer for Missouri. Missouri reported deaths was zero with 2414 new infections.

Am I looking at the right state?

Sounds about right. Not sure why worldometer is behind.

Doesn’t look like the health department is reporting many. AP being the ministry of Truth again it looks like.

It is a reasonable question.

That’s the rolling average. Yesterday’s deaths were 57 according to your link. We’ll see through the next couple of weeks if the trend line is up since hospitalizations seem to be increasing rapidly.

I wrote this first last year: Hospital morgues are tiny. In our 300 bed hospital we had four slots. They would easily fill up during flu season.

Using hospital morgues as a measure of anything is silly. MOST deaths do not occur in the hospital. The slightest deviation from normal would put bodies “in the hallway.”
